Long Distance Uni Year out trust problems. With Facebook Chat twist

Hi All,

So let me set the seen, me and my gf started going out last year at uni (been around a year now), obviously at uni it was love and cuddles, but this year she is on a year out abroad and I'm working for the year, so essentially we arent able to see each other much although we do at least test every day. Now I don't consider myself to have prominent trust issues but I'm finding being apart very difficult, I visited her and met some of her new friends and that did help and when we are together I do feel like she REALLY wants this to work, which I do most of the time.

Okay so, so far same old long distance relationship problems story.

Now here's what led me to post this, I'm not sure whether she remembers or not, but I know her facebook password (I know never a good idea) so out of curiosity (and minor trust issues) I logged onto her facebook page and saw that there was a VERY long conversation with a new male friend that she has made on her year abroad, he's from our uni, he looks like me and she has barely mentioned him to me. The conversation doesn't seem to be particularly flirty in anyway but it is very long, and im confident that it spans into text, what app etc etc, to the point where I think she might even be talking to this guy more than me.

So loveforum what do you think, should I be concerned? Should I confront her about this? or am I being a paranoid idiot?

tbh I'm just happy to get this off my chest, I haven't toldany of my friends, just a bit concerned im overreacting, but having done this i think I might talk to a mate.

I dont think long distance relationships work. At least one of you will cheat. Sorry but thats reality and because your so concerned, its likely going to be her who will do the cheating. The best advice i can offer is to go your separate ways for now. You may find each other again one day if its meant to be.

I think you should maybe talk to her about this. Don't mention you logged on to her Facebook, but just say you're worried you may be drifting apart or something. From her response you should be able to gauge whether or not this is something to worry about. If she calms your nerves and worries then keep going, but if she goes the opposite where by the end of the conversation you feel like you don't have all the details then end it.
