The L word

I've been with my first boyfriend for three and a half months. We're both college sophomores and both fairly inexperienced.
Recently, we had our first serious talk about our relationship. He prefaced it by saying "I really do like you..." and it kind of struck me the wrong way. It felt like something you say to someone your thinking of dating or just started dating.
Should I be worried that we aren't saying "love"?
