I'm sorry but don't understand this. People say don't make yourself too available, but shouldn't you spend time with your significant other?
I just don't see how you are suppose to show interest in them but also not put yourself out there.

This advice can be good, but is far too often taken to extremes by those fond of playing games.
To me, it's as simple as not sitting around waiting for him to contact you. If he's slow in booking you up and you've since made other arrangements, don't change your plans for him. Also, don't do all the contacting. Make sure he takes at least 50% initiative.
I think this is mostly BS. It's usually a relationship "rule" used by those who enjoy playing games. To a lesser extent, I think this means not giving up your life and interests for your significant other. Don't spend all your time with them to the point that your own life becomes neglected. But some people like to use tactics like purposefully ignoring texts/calls, saying you're busy when you're not, waiting a certain number of days to see them or talk to them, etc. I personally don't think you should ever use these immature "rules" and purposefully ignore the person you're interested in just to keep them chasing after you. It's unfair and such a mind game. Just be honest and communicate about how the relationship is progressing.
