Moving forward, not backwards
When one gets dumped, common advice is to reconnect with old friends. So, since I was dumped, I started to reconnect with old friends on facebook. I signed up for facebook and started adding people.
The thing is, I haven't even thought about these people for years. I tried to reconnect with potential girlfriends and exs from 5-10 years ago.
Then it hit me. We fell out of touch for a reason: we've moved on with our lives. Trying to reconnect with them is not moving forward, it's moving backwards.
There is some extent to which we can reconnect with friends. I learned that in order to move on with my life, I need to figure out being a bachelor again but not the bachelor that I was. I'm not a teenager anymore; I'm a man.
I can reconnect with some close friends that I neglected, but I need to make new friends, and really explore life like I used to.
