My girlfriend still speaks with her ex, should I be concerned?

So, I've been dating my girlfriend for around 7 months and around 4 - 5 months into the relationship she bumped into her ex and now speaks with him again having got his number from her friend. To me, she claims he is just a friend and that nothing inappropriate is / will happen, but would like contact with him because she dated him for around 5 years so they're friends. They have been split up now for 1 + years

Currently, her ex lives in Sweden with work, however will be back home to the UK in the near future. Since bumping into him, she now chats to him over Skype once / twice a week and does not mention the communication with me.

I know they speak 1 - 2 a week as I noticed a few notifications etc... on her skype.

I feel as if I am just a stop gap until he comes back, or I'm some form of emotional support until she can pick things back up with him once he's back. What do you guys think?

They probably are only friends, but why do they need to talk more than once a week or for that matter more than once a month depending on how long their online chats take, over an hour or two each time? Do they email or text too? Is her ex single? Ask her why she needs to talk to him so much weekly, and just not catch up once a month instead. They still care about each other but that doesn't mean anything horrible is going on. Discuss all your concerns with your girlfriend would be my advice.

This is totally not appropriate. It's one thing to message once in a blue moon to say "hey how are you doing" but it's another to be skyping a few times a week, and when he gets back guaranteed they are going to meet up one one one for coffee, drinks, dinner etc. It's time to discuss boundaries in your relationship and how this makes you feel uncomfortable. If she doesn't like it, then it's not going to work....she is disrespecting you and the relationship.
