Things are changing back in my country too... it's just these people who have come here to live become even more meddling.
And the older generations too ... I was told by my cousin back home that if I wanted to visit with my bf I better have a ring on my finger because the oldies will start to talk :surprised ... I mean, we're supposed to be a pretty Westernised country.
You have to bear in mind that it's only become westernized a few decades ago, it will take a while for tradition to die down.Quote:

Though honestly, I like the traditions the way they are. They support my perception of what it takes to have a good family.
It always amazes me the advice people like to give when it comes to family/marriage. I had a guy actually tell me that he doesn't beleive in dating at all. That when he meets a woman he's thinking marriage or nothing. This was after about 3 hours of complaining about his EX-WIFE and her new boyfriend. And how she had to put a restraining order on him becuase he threatened to kill her etc etc etc. I just said oh yah marriage is such a good idea because it's worked so great for you... He laughed.
I'm all about traditions I think they're great but everyones traditions are different. You have the right idea. You're young it doesn't matter how long you've been together. When you're not ready you're not ready. I wish you the best.
