Oh no, we've been sailing for years, all sorts of types & sizes. Its not hard, and its rarely dangerous. Sailboats in the big races that one reads about get into trouble b/c their boats are built for speed, not bluewater cruising. And they carry on in weather that most cruising folk would stay anchored or choose a different route. I just wonder about the effects of being away from home/friends/school, etc. Wondered if you had done it, is all.

no i'm just a day out here and there with the family, i wouldn't do the long trips without the more qualified people, my dad is into the competitions, not me, i like to sit back and enjoy, one day maybe

Well, then he would have been interested in the Sydney - Hobart race that just happened. Same group from Hamilton Island, Wild Oats, won again.

i'm sure, i don't keep track, but he has been going on and on about the upcoming boat show in london, i think he plans on buying yet another boat he doesn't need, i think i'll go just coz he thinks it's a bonding experience :)

Boat shows are fun, yes, go bond with him. Keep him from going too nuts.

Its better than running around with women. Shrug. Boys & toys is a truism.
