They might as well spend the money on nice clothes. And I'll be honest, the more expensive shorts are much nicer.
Cycling shorts are usually even more expensive. $60 is usually an ok pair. You want something nice, google Assos, Copa Forma, or Castelli. That stuff is expensive. But really nice. I have a couple Castelli things.
