What I meant, is that there shouldn't be any need to lie in the first place. People should be responsible enough to do the right things, and tell the truth. Their peers should be responsible enough to HANDLE the truth in the right way.
Like getting a frikken job..still dont have one :(Quote:

This is incredibly naive^, Dopple. You need to interact with waaay more ppl to understand just how wrong you are about this. Some ppl in life are totally in the 'need to know only' category. To do otherwise is actually a disservice to them.Quote:

Nisha, have you resent an application to someone *a name* in head office, like I suggested?

I was completely honest on my surveys. I tried for the Ritz Carlton, Home Depot, FYE, and Icing's. Idk why Icing's didnt hire though, guess I just wasnt wanted. On the applications had opinion surveys, which I apparently failed, and I dont understand how you can fail an opinion survey.
Might I add I've got 9 more school days left?!?! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Nah...Idk how to do so....and I am shy as hell to just up and go to them for that. I also fear being dismissed/rejected. :(Quote:

I cried my eyes out when I heard I wasnt getting the job lol.
Times are tough, and there's a hiring freeze now on a lot of places. Don't take it personally, just try harder. Send 2x the apps you have been. Increase your goal, don't give up.
Phone the places you are interested and ask for the name of a manager you can contact. Say that you had a great customer experience and you want to send a letter thanking them.Quote:

Get a name, then send that app c/o that person.
Oh, and so as to not 'lie', perhaps include why you think their company is a place you'd like to work at.
Seeing as Im almost through with school, I plan to step my job hunting game up so I can get some damn money.Quote:

You know Indi, what you call 'lying by omission' technically isn't lying. It is basically intending to deceive without telling a false statement... or any statement. I mean, it isn't a lie without the false statement part.
It happens all the time, especially when people you don't care about ask you how you are doing.
I guess what I said applies more to more serious relationships.
Want to bet...Quote:

It depends entirely upon the system, and it's anti-brute force countermeasures. Some sites will suspend logins for a few min, others will let you keep trying, others will lock themselves until you pass a turing style test such as capture or capture2... Some times a site will simply ask you to answer some personal questions to recover a password. ALA Yahoo's e-mail and how Sarah Palin's account was hacked. Most attempts aren't actually truly brute force, they use a dictionary based w/ algorithms to modulate replacement characters for certain letters, etc. It's far easier than many people seem to think. If you know the basic requirements for the password you can better tailor your permutations to cover.
Hell, if I can get in between you and whatever internet site you're talking to I can scan the traffic and piece it back together. Doesn't matter if it's a photo, a web page, a phone conversation, or whatever. I capture packets, assemble them in order, play them back, voila.
Even more effective though is simple social engineering. You know, plug a USB drive into the back of your machine that launches a program causing your machine to go haywire for a bit. When you ask me to help you fix it, then I get in and snoop. Or, attach the keylogger to a new flash game I've seen lying about. You play game, you get infected, I get your info. Just because you have anti-virus and anti-spyware software don't think you're safe. There are a good number of such programs that these applications will not pick up. It all depends upon what the particular vendor has agreed to mark or not mark as spyware. Some commercial keyloggers are considered completely legitimate. Hell, there are key loggers you can get that sit in-line between your PC and keyboard. Oops.
The basic truth is that to most people your info, and even hackers, your information isn't all that interesting. It's a basic effort vs reward issue. Why would I spend 3 days hacking your machine if I really don't care what's on it? To prove I could? Boring...
The only real, true way to protect your information is to have a static (IE: Ubuntu Live CD) OS that cannot be altered that boots completely from read-only media. To do that every time would be very slow and annoying however.
Yeah, congrats! It's a good feeling I bet. :)Quote:

What if you are called a hospital and you ask whether your find is there because you want to visit? If that friend does not want visitors and you keep asking me whether he is at that hospital, what am I to say?Quote:

First off...you need to tell your ex to **** off.
Second, like mentioned before. When it comes to e-mail really the only ways someone is going to get your password is through phishing or keystroke logging. If he's done it multiple times I'd say it's a keystroke logger.
I say backup all your important stuff and just reinstall windows. Start out fresh. It's really not hard to do at all, Windows has a pretty simple GUI when it comes to reinstalling.
If you don't want to reinstall windows, it may be a bit more difficult to figure out if there's something on there. Especially if you're not familiar with any of the regular process or services that are running or programs that are supposed to be installed.
