I agree that games these days lack the Wow effect that the previous games had. I remember spending nights behind the screen and having trouble sleeping because I NEEDED to see what will happen next. The games were so mesmerising that playing them developed into an addiction. This day and age it's difficult to find an equivalent that would have the same effect. Most have the 'been there done that' factor. But that could simply be because we've already tried everything.Quote:

However there are still games out there which still have that effect of old games. They are just fewer and further between. Consider:
Jade Empire as substitute for LBA
Psychonauts as substitute for Grim Fandango
Total war / Command and Conqeur as substitute for Dune2
Though, I don't think anything will replace the Ufo and Syndicate series. The formula for tactical and strategic squad combat in that manifestation has become extinct. Though the brothers in arms squad tactics may revive it and bring it back.
Lego. Give me a box today and I'd still entertain myself for hours.
God, you kids are so young. Here is the game *I* played as a teenager:

'Sombra, what are we gonna do with you?
it's so sad that rollerskating isn't a big thing anymore. when i was growing up freakin roller west was the place to be!
I went to a roller skating rink once. I fell on my ass repeatedly. I'm talking dozens of times. It was so pathetic. I would get up and just immediately fall again. And this was before I was allowed to drink beer in public.
aaaaaaaaaaaah nostalgia...

I can one up that, Gribble. I used to go to the roller rink in the '80's, when all the girls wore tight jeans and had the farrah faucet hair. One time I went to the bathroom and didn't notice I got all this toilet paper wrapped around my wheel.Quote:

So out I skated on the middle of the floor with practically a whole roll of TP trailing from my wheel. People were pointing and laughing. (I think I was about twelve). Most embarrassing moment EVER.
Look at the clothes, its all back. LOL.Quote:

Comic books. I collected them when I was a kid. Especially Conan the Barbarian, and Batman.
This is a song that takes me back.

This one, too (kind of embarrassing). My parents had it on 8 track, and we loved it when we were really small.
