Bitchy coworkers

My god, you should see my work. It's like going to work in a den of lionesses.

This chick the other day (a lawyer, mind you) walked up to this big printer in the middle of the office and slapped it with her hand and yells "THIS F-CKING PRINTER!!" Scenes like that are a daily occurence.

There's a whole network of alliances and cross-alliances and feuds that I'm only dimly aware of. It's actually nice to be a male in that environment, it just seems to swirl around me.

And I'm not having a go at them either, they're damn good workers. really capable people. The sort of thing you describe just seems to be an unfortunate bi-product of a whole of driven young women working together,

We have alliances in our work place as well it can get very political. Sometimes it's funny to watch a stir just to see how these alliances get activated and how they work.

We also have these office oracles, no matter what happens they always know what's going on. And the gossip never stops.

Gribble and Vash, those were actually my sentiments exactly. My first instinct was to confront Coworker B and ask her why she was trying to deliberately fuel animosity. But I think I should at least let my boss try and deal with it first.

No-no, starbuck! That's not what I meant! I think you should approach her SWEETLY, not confrontationally! Ask her who is telling her such ridiculous stories so you can confront THEM, and that way, you leave her an out without flat-out accusing her of misbehavior. Act as though she is a buddy and you are confused. Your point will be made without fueling the drama.

All the nurses on my floor during day shift are women. Most of them are okay, but there are a couple that are nasty-ass bitches. Thank god for the male techs, therapists, and doctors. I think we NEED that testosterone around to keep us in line.

yeah at my work the feuds, which usually simmer beneath the surface, occasionally erupt. There're usually tantrums and tears and ultimatums and group trips to the ladies bathrooms.

And then usually they both get called into one of the partner's offices and get told to cut it out and everything goes back to normal - for a time.

I think law-women are particularly gung-ho though. I've never seen it so hardcore as the place I'm in. They rule the place. One of the lawyers has pictures of male models stuck up all over her office?! It's like walking into a sixteen year old gir's room. But no one says anything to her.

I walked past another one the other day, a really attractive girl and I heard her slam down the phone and yell ''that bitch! That bitch can f-ck off and die!" Alpha females.

Yet if I exhibited any of the above behaviours (open displays of animosity to my colleagues and superiors, yelling obsenities at the top of my voice, putting up pictures of babes around my desk) I reckon I'd get the boot in a second.

I agree that women tend to get away with more bitchy behavior than men can. I wish that weren't the case, though.

yeah I actually think it's a psychological difference with men. When men get angry it has an intimidatory quality that isn't there with women. I think it has something to do with our instincts: historically, uncontrolled displays of aggression in males often led to violence, so it needs to be controlled.

Having said that, a lot of the girls at work remind me of raptors (those vicious dinosaurs). They often dress in a confident, sexually provocative way, they travel in packs and they just look like predators. They all wear these razor looking stilettos, that remind me of claws. When they walk through the foyer their heels all make this loud 'click, click, click,'. They sound and look uncommonly like a pack of raptors crossing the floor.

i don't think i could ever work in such a hostile/volatile environment.

well they're all nice to me. They just get a bit canibalistic with each other once in a while.

Just as long as your boss is clear about what's going on, Starbuck, I think you should just let it wash right over you. Let them both make complete asses of themselves.

Has it occurred to you that Coworker B is out to get Coworker A and you just happen to be a convenient tool?

And there I thought only men play the "who has the biggest penis game". Seems women play it to.

Well.. maybe they play "who has the biggest clitoris". Who knows.

Seems though as of the game is played by the same rules :P

I like the idea of having a nice lunch convo with Coworker A. I don't know how Coworker B even figured she should get involved in this....it's none of her damn business.

I also think that if you and Coworker A finally clear the air and set it straight that you weren't talking shit about her, you need to talk to Coworker B and tell her that her behaviour has been noticed and is not welcome. People like her do things covertly because they think no one will catch on. They don't like to be called out.

I deal with women like this all the time. They need to be dealt with directly. If I say something that offends someone unintentionally, I talk to them about it. Women that talk shit will have me in their office asking why they feel it's necessary to perpetuate such behaviour. It usually ends there.

Although I am friendly at work, I do not form actual friendships with anyone I work with... I think it helps to prevent me getting pulled into all the girl drama. I am there to do my job, not to be social. I think a lot of these problems arise form people not being able to separate the two.
