Health warnings on alcoholic beverages

Look at it from the opposite point of view. Are you prepared to say:

Cigarette packs need no warnings, people should know they are bad for you. No warning on any packaging (hazardous or not) if someone is stupid they deserve what's coming to them. No labels on food, who cares how much fat it has, you wanna be health conscience? Eat an apple, fatty! No warning signs on electric booths, cliffs, road traffic hazards, shoot on sight areas, people should know those things or die if they are "stupid".

I think we should just move all that stuff into a box store chain called "The Evil Store". Porn, cigs, booze, sex toys... all of it.

It will be bigger than Mall-Wort and it will attracte all the Mormon and JoHos in once place like moths to a bonfire. If we are lucky, they will start to fight and kill each other and do Darwin's work for us. :)

Well obviously some substances are more dangerous than others. You can say that water can kill you just as well as a cyanide pill, but it doesn't mean that both are identical. 40 plus years of messages in the printed media, radio, television, and more so, the very public social disgust of a pregnant woman drinking more than a glass or two (tops) of wine isn't enough?

We need legislation pertaining to alcohol aside from the proof of the bottle and how many standard drinks are in said bottle?

Why stop there? Why not legislate mandatory electronically chipped and lithium ion battery powered bottle neck pourers which measure the drinkers weight, overall health, and gender and only dispenses the appropriate amount of standard drinks as legislated by fockwitted parlimentarians and carefully selected utopian minded health care "professionals". Why even stop there? Why not develop a translucent ABS plastic bottle which is shock, tank, and flame thrower proof so as to not be tampered with should an unpregnant woman or man want to consume more than what's been approved to them?

Of course, we'd need to all be micro chipped for this to really be a soon-ish prospect. You know.. the whole ease of implementation thingy

I'm going to tell you this once and only once, Mishyana. Despite your obvious leanings, environmental lack of upbringing, I reckon that you're a person who could learn to stand on your own two feet and take life as a free man, as it should be taken.

Printed media, radio and television give conflicting messages and are not necessarily professionally qualified to give a medical advice. There are also people who don't read printed media, don't listen to the radio and don't watch television. Having a message at the source of the problem will be a step in the right direction.

Why stop there? It shouldn't be stopped there. But if you are looking for a reason why then 15,000 people a year dead due to alcohol related reasons in UK alone should be enough of a reason for a simple message on a bottle. Though for people like you who care only about money and don't care about the lives of other people, alcohol misuse is costing tax payers £25bn a year should be sufficient.

I have a very hard time believing that. You give a much clearer impression of someone who doesn't want to spend any money in taxes on anything regardless of what detriments it will have on people from all walks of life. Someone who will create any type of incoherence to make sure the wallet is safe.

Alcohol makes so many people just plain mean. It would be better if we banned alcohol and legalized pot. Does anybody know anyone who has done pot and become a mean evil bastard (who wasn't already)? Actually, it tends to mellow even those sort out.

I'm no hippie, but one can't ignore the facts. Given a choice of drugs (if they were both legal), I'd eat Space Cake over drinking alcohol. Its a kinder drug, no hangover, makes you mellow.

But, its not regulated (here anyway), so I'm not going to rely on some unknown whack-job dropout chemist making something I'd put in my body.

I wasn't referring to violence while they are drunk (although I guess they can be that way too), but rather when they detox and are in severe pain due to alcoholic cirrhosis or pancreatitis and DTs.

People need to be adventurous I think. Experimentation is the best way to learn I think. lol.

LOL, Doc I am susceptible to reason. I like to hear people's ideas. What I don't respect are folks who claim they have a better way, or simply outright complain, but have no ability to actually explain the system whereby things are made better.
