My girlfriend is pretty funny. She also has a contagious laugh. S'why I love her.
That reminds me of another Joke
Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson stand at a urinal answering nature's call. Watson looks puzzled.
Watson: "Holmes, I can't help but wonder why. When I relieve myself I make a very laud sound, but when you relieve yourself you are as quite as a thief"
Holmes: "Dear Watson, once again you are not paying enough attention to detail. If you did you would find the answer to your question is extraordinarily simple. The fact of the matter is, you are pissing on my shoe and I'm pissing in your pocket."
and you're being a hypocrite with that statement, because it seems as though your panties are a little more twisted than mine.Quote:

couldn't really give a shit what you say about my gender... women generally annoy me for lots of reasons. It's your conceit I commented on. But hey ... :nerd:
Of course women can be funny. My mum and my sister have truly great sense of humours. But, I know what DM means. Having a good sense of humour and being ''funny'' are not quite the same. I think men are probably better at being funny.
i think with a lot of women there's a comfort level that needs to be reached before they can be funny. it's taught to us that we shouldn't be gross or inappropriate and our senses of humor tend to be that way. if you guys could be a fly on the wall when a group of women are together drinking some alcohol and joking around you would be stunned at the shit we find funny. my bf and male roommate freak out when my girlfriends come over and we start talking.
Being funny often entails risk and the humour that results when things go wrong. Guys are generally better risk-takers, so there's more opportunity for things to go sideways & be funny.Quote:

Something I learned a long time ago about women is once you learn how to make them laugh you'll be on their side.

THIS is what I was driving at, even though I didn't come right out and say it. And since I didn't say it and both of you arrived at the same general kind of conclusion, well I think that says something
This thread about girls not being funny was for a VERY specific situation, but a situation that I (as a guy) am very often in
It is in no way to say more generally that girls are not funny, in no way at all
I can say that now though :)
Case in point:

If that doesn't link to a porno I'm not going to click it

I seem to be great material for really funny people to make fun of. It gets annoying sometimes, but I have no idea how to turn it off.
Both men and women like a sense of humour.
However, women see sense of humour as the man making jokes and being "funny", while men see sense of humour as women laughing at their jokes.
Males bond by making jokes more so than women, in my experience.
I agree that more males than females are better at making jokes. All the women I know who know how to make a good joke are the ones who have a male circle of friends and get along better with males.
