Thanks for that link Indi.
I wouldn't move anywhere that is costly.
Especially SF. With the climate and weather disasters you spend more money repairing things than adding on. I would move someplace where you can make a healthy investment.

Real estate in SFO is a VERY healthy investment overall... IF you can afford to get in. That real estate is 2nd only to NYC, so far as I know. However, a lot of people live in neighboring communities and commute in to SFO.
Portland
Honolulu
Vegas
Little Rock
Seattle
L.A.
In that order from Indi's link. That list doesn't surprise me at all except Honolulu, because I would never move that far off the mainland.
The other 18 it gave me covered about every city on the California seaboard, lol.
There are plenty of suburbs in the San Francisco Bay Area that can accommodate a lot of different income levels.
I don't recall the last time I felt an earthquake ... but be aware that we are due for a doozy.
Overall, SF is pretty laid back ... It's not "high density" as Indi put it. It's not like we're overcrowded. But like I said, suburbs are a beautiful thing. SFO is actually in the San Bruno area which isn't even part of the main area of SF ...
But let me put it this way ... a lot of people move to or around here for a reason. And many are here for the long haul. There has to be a reason for that.
Honolulu
San Bernardino, Cal
Vegas
Albuquerque
El Cajon, Cal
I wonder where the hell Vegas came from. I'd never live there.
Metro SF is around 800000. Greater is 7+ million. That's a lot of people to a Canadian. I've been there a few times and it is way busier than anything I'm used to. Mbe compared to NOLA, tho its not so bad.
Metro Vancouver is around 500000 (I think), but I'm in the burbs with 1/10 of that. And its too busy for me.
hawaii is very nice.. but it's expensive here.

I would NOT recommend the Philippines or India for you.Quote:

Nor Hong Kong.
I'd be worried myself of stressing out like hell if I lived there, but might give it a shot.
The town I graduated high school from had 1,500 people. :)Quote:

The town I grew up in had half a million people.
I'm really hesitant about San Francisco. I'm not big on California to start, but throw in a bad economy, high cost of living. I'm going to have to talk this over with my bud.
I had some savings 2 years ago, but I blew that on my lemon of a car. I don't think I'd last too long in a foreign place without any kind of local support.
Unless 'Shorty has a extra room at his place??
Move to Albuquerque, like Misombra said.
It's not just finding middle ground for us.
I'd really like to find a place to room with my buddy from home.
He's looking to get out of Pennsylvania, and would make a good and responsible roommate.

I think I'll end up in Australia or Chile. Its been raining steady here...I can feel the grey walls closing in & its only November. Normally I'd have tix booked for Mexico already, but swine flu has me hesitating.Quote:
