It's scary to think that in some parts of the world people can still be legally executed for being homosexual. As in if you are a good citizen of your country it is your duty to find and bring gay people to justice.

Absolutely they should be able to marry, and to adopt. Like someone said earlier, there's so many shitty heterosexual parents out there that had kids because they did what nature designed them for physically, but not necessarily mentally. The gay friends I have with kids genuinely WANTED them, spent thousands to get them (through artificial insemination, or adoption). They were no 'accidents', and they had them when they were in a committed marriage (it's legal here in Canada).
I wouldn't want to live in a place where it WAS illegal. Seems so ignorant and backwards to me. Like back when people used to think black people were less than human. Think about how ignorant that sounds nowadays. Its time we all get on the same page and start loving and accepting people who are making choices that don't hurt anyone else. All these old ways of thinking were based on the days when our values and morals were created and spoon fed to us by the big Religion machine. We're past that now.
As long as two people love each other I don't really care what they want to do.
I mean I don't really get turned on at the thought of hairy man ass but whatever works for ya.
I have my own problems to worry about before I can worry about others.
The issue is semantics more than anything else. I believe many members of the opposition honestly don't mind gay couples, but the word "marriage" transcends more than just a legal union between two people. If the state/government did not chose the word "marriage" to talk about two couples joining together, then half this nonsense wouldn't exist.
Its stupid really.
But that is my point...people have their own problems...their own relationships to worry about.Quote:

A big argument is that gay marriage undermines the sanctity of marrige...how so exactly? How does a strong gay marriage undermine the spirit of marriage more than a failed straight marriage (and there are plenty of those)...we have our own to worry about. What someone else does in their marriage does not dictate what we do in our.
What really pisses me off are those straight couples that say calling a same-sex union a 'marriage' CHEAPENS the definition for heterosexual couples.
How does another person's life choice affect yours? Really?
The church's problem is they didn't secure their intellectual property on the concept of marriage. Like Giga said, the government got in on it and that muddied the waters. Too late now.
I propose Ritual Chemical Bonding. You each say your 'I Do's' and each take a designer poison that only antibodies produced by your mate will keep from killing you. You get your daily dose from snogging or sex. If they don't give it up, you die. So do they.
That should fix divorce. Also make people think twice (or 2000X) about marriage.
Jeeze. There'd be a huge market for transfusion kits. I know I sure as hell wouldn't want to bang the same woman day after day. Jab the needle in my arm so I don't have to jab her. Thanks.
This thread is extremely gay.
I think they should be able to do what they like and agree with queenofcorona. why should homosexual couples have to jump through so many hoops in order to get married.
the term marriage doesn't belong to the church, therefore it shouldn't matter whether its right or wrong according to the bible. a homosexual couple marrying in a church might be a problem though...
If anybody cheapened the definition of marriage, it was definitely heterosexual Baby Boomers. They're the ones who popularized narcissism and divorce in the U.S., especially in the '70s and '80s.Quote:

Totally. I was a little kid in the '70's. What a sleazy time to grow up. Not many role models, that's for sure.Quote:

I blame last generation for this generation's issues.
I blame the generation before that for spoiling the crap out of the last generation.Quote:

should anyone be allowed get married? (obviously each to their own...whatever) where did the idea of marriage come about anyway. people do generally know the couple are together (in regard to arguments for declaring their togetherness/love). marriage doesn;t prevent people from cheating or breaking up. it's a big party-one day that costs a fortune and for what? what exactly is so great about telling everyone who knows already that you are an item? back in the day...fair enough women didn't have much choice. but these days it's better not to marry. imo its better for the man to be married these days than it is for a woman. tradition? bullshit. what are the benefits? what's the point? ....if two eejuts (hetro or gay) think 'hell yeah lets get married', then, let them. it's not like it makes any difference to reality....Now in regard to gay couples adopting; NO'ish. no offense but the male and female fit together as one. as nature intended. not to say the children won;t necessarily be fine...but if there is a choice between a hetro couple and gay couple ((both couples having gone through the same (hopefully rigorous)checks to reach the point of being allowed) then obviously the hetro couple is ideal for the child/ren. only as a last resort should a gay couple be allowed to adopt once all hetro couples of the same standards as the gays be then acceptable. sorry, but you know i'm right. don't give me any PC bullshit.
