I've been attracted to some women that made my friend's shoot me a “WTF?” glance. At the risk of sounding like an annoying optimist, to each his own.Quote:

By some people's standards? Yes. They're not ugly to me if they're a great person that I get along with.Quote:

You, however, are displaying traits that would turn me off from the most beautiful girl in the world. You're self-defeating, you talk in incorrect absolutes, and you have a need to fight back against people who disagree with you, rather than take their opinion and think about it.
That's what would turn me off. Nothing physical.
Also, the physical can be improved by someone committed to it. If it's a weight thing, get in shape. If it's a looks thing, think about changing your wardrobe, hair, etc.
The fact that you've thrown in the towel and think that the world hates you is only going to make that come true.
i am not sure if you understand that it would be highly impossible for someone who weighs over 300 or 400 lbs to shed all that weight, especially if they can't afford gastric bypass. and some facial features are not possible to get rid off or change. of course if someone has money to go through tons of plastic surgery than there's a chance for a new life, but to an average joe it's not a possibility.Quote:

Anyway, remember the maxim: Don't diss the geeks; chances are, one day you'll be working for one.
1. It's not impossible, much less highly impossible (which isn't actually a phrase - there are no degrees of impossible). Committed people lose that much weight constantly.Quote:

2. Facial features can be helped in many ways other than plastic surgery.
3. Regardless, you skipped over my entire point about attitude and personality. That says a lot.
unfortunately I don't know any scientist to even give my opinion on that :(
right, ugly people make themselves more pleasant by having a nice personality, whereas a beautiful person can afford to behave like a complete ass.Quote:

I don't disagree with this. Hence, the reason I don't date beautiful people, and rarely have interest in them.Quote:

People are self-centred (and they should be to survive modern societies). Ugly or not, a person who is mentally balanced, strives to have a happy life. And, for many (though not all), happy means having someone to share it with. So going against this urge, is usually a sign of underlying mental or psychological issues that should be taken care of.
Also, who defines what "ugly" means? I am probably ugly when compared to Adonis, just as I am probably stupid when compared to Einstein. Most people I happened to meet who felt "ugly" they were either not grown up yet and hormones were raging havoc in their heads, or there was something else (pathological or psychological condition) that was distorting their perception of rationality.
And to conclude, I do happen to know well a person (male), more or less same age as me, that most would agree he looks hideous. The guy is happilly married to a very attractive female who seems to be deeply in love with him. He is socially very popular (so it's not luck), and he is currently putting up with listening to me night after night complaining on the phone about my miserable love life...
right, but in my age range - 30-50, the single ones are the least attractive ones.Quote:

so matching is harder - which in turn means that, ceteris paribus, it will take you longer to find an "agreeable" match . Just as it means that at 65 people are highly more likely to develop heart disease than teenagers. Does this mean that people should kill thesemves at 65 to avoid having a heart attack?
They're all unattractive?Quote:

Doubt it.
no, my whole point is - should ugly people produce kids knowing in advance that the child will look like them? (in most cases)Quote:
