She is saying that alcohol is still legal despite the huge number of people who break the drinking and driving law. So by the logic of many of you prohibitionists alcohol should be illegal tooQuote:

oh my gawd your taste in women SUCKS! maybe it should be illegal to date low-life drug addicts and that would've made things better for you.Quote:

anyway, the point is that it does not help matters either way, legal or illegal. people are going to be shit-heads regardless. however because drugs are illegal there is a war going on on our border numerous conflicts elsewhere. innocent people are dying and otherwise suffering.
I didn't know she was an addict for the first six months. I did notice that she was getting a little too skinny, and that despite giving her money to fix her car, her car seemed to always be breaking down. Turned out it wasn't the car that needed a fix. Most of the time, she was easier to get along with than any other woman that I've ever dated. She was fun, funny, laid-back and cool. Also, she was a single mother with two nice kids. She was a skillful manipulator, telling her kids to give me a hug if we were arguing about money or drugs. About every six months, she would steal from me, I would dump her, then she would come back later after "getting clean." She did eventually kick the meth addiction but hooked up with a heroin dealer during one of our breaks. She and the dealer got addicted, then later got into a methadone program. I lost touch with her years ago, but saw her FaceBook page last year. She looked happy and healthy, and her posts were coherent.
That's a pretty ignorant thing to say. Alcohol was more dangerous when it was illegal. Have you ever heard the term "bathtub gin"? You could die from drinking that.Quote:

Incidentally, you can become physically dependent on alcohol. Tobacco contains nicotine, and while physical dependence only exists in other animals, both drugs are still very addictive.

It would be impossible to have an LSD or mushroom addiction because they aren't physically addictive in the slightest. In fact, the thought that goes through your mind after a 16-hour-long LSD experience is, Fuck, that was mentally exhausting...not doing that again for a while.
I'm surprised nobody here has pulled out the real reason these drugs are banned. I'll spare you a large amount of reading and put it simply: alcohol and tobacco kill people off faster, because old people are a significant financial burden to the society. Further, drugs like LSD don't make any money, but alcohol and tobacco can be taxed because users will almost certainly develop a habit with them. Drugs like cocaine that have both an extremely addictive property, but are banned get used by the CIA for drug trafficking purposes to fund wars.
It's all about money. Nobody cares about your health.
I favor legalizing all drugs and increasing education. Prohibition doesn't work, it creates a market for criminal behavior such as what is happening in Mexico, and it overcrowds our prison system. If people want to mess up their lives, I don't care. I have a choice to keep addicts in my life, or not. Also, I resent the amount of money and manpower our government wastes on drug analysis when they don' t have enough money or manpower to stay on top of violent crime evidence. I also think that people who indulge in hard drug use should be limited as to how much health care money should be thrown away in their care.
making laws against certain drugs is a good way to kill the poor.

(by the way brown people make up a disproportional amount of the poor.)
Drugs have torn my family to pieces. But that's probably because most are illegal.
That and Love. Love is a drug...Quote:

You can come to afghanistan or pakistan to buy drugs cheaply, most of the worlds drugs are produced here anyways
And that's a pretty rambling non-sensical post. So what if they made bath-tub gin? What's the relevance? I was referring to the harm it does to society, not the individual.Quote:

And the rest of your post makes you sound like a crackpot. The government uses tobacco and alcohol to kill old people to ease the financial burden on society?! That's ridiculous. They're legal for historical and cultural reasons. And the cost of treating the damage those drugs do to society outeighs the tax gains.
Damn, DM is going to use that chart to fill out his annual wish list... and look at caffeine vs. ephedra. I'm not sure I believe the graph.
All I have to say is -, and you can take this for or against the argument, I don't care - Look at Amsterdam.
Yeah, those people fück dogs.Quote:

The fact that mexico is grossly corrupt is what's causing all the violence, there isn't a police force in the country where nobody will take a bribe. This is a systemic problem that existed long before the drugs started taking over and one mexico failed to address until it was too late.Quote:

We need to do whats best for us when it comes to drug policy, and that's keeping seriously addictive and destructive drugs like heroin and crystal meth illegal. Pot should be legalized though.
