I always buy gifts for other people that I want for myself. Maybe part of me is hoping they will say "no thanks" and I will get to keep it!

I baked cookies pretty much all day yesterday, and I am staying out of the kitchen today. We'll be going out for Chinese tomorrow, but i will be cooking a big meal the following day. I cook for all the holidays since my family all lives out of state. Yes, I am a holiday orphan.

Oregon, Massachusetts and Northern California. I will get to see them all in March though for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah.

It will be awesome. She is very smart and has fairly advanced thought processes about theology for a girl her age. I am really proud. We will be celebrating at Disneyland after her services rather than the traditional party (which I hate, by the way).
Anyway, I am teaching her some guitar chords over winter break...

just because you're self-taught doesn't mean you suck! many great guitarists were self-taught. like dick dale for instance, and others...
