Yes, always blame the terrorists, always blame the shooters. But do you actually think what MAKES them do this? Todays sick society, man. Gun control doesn't solve the problem, people will still feel the same way.

But I'd rather have the option to take up arms, than not to.
"First world nation", don't mean shit.
If my government can have guns, than so should I.
I'm gonna open up a thread on gun control, crime, etc. There are things I'd like to say, but I just don't feel right expressing them in a thread devoted to yesterday's tragedy.
Yeah, I just realized my childhood best friend goes to V-tech.
Somehow I wasn't making the connection between him and his school.
He's the first person I thought of, yet I didn't think to call him.
Just gave him and his parent's house a call.
Haven't heard back from them yet.
EDIT: I just heard from a friend that he's fine. He has classes in the building where some of the shooting went on, which is the only thing that had me worried.
no. you missed my point completely. i'm not trying to start arguments, either, and to be brief, it's really nice of you to stoop down to the kindergarten level and call names.Quote:

i don't need to defend gun control, either. i already have it, and not only that, but gun control will continue to exist where i live.
instead of bashing me, read what i said and actually think about it.
i'm glad to hear your friend is alright. luckily, i don't have any friends in virginia.Quote:

MVPlaya's in the house.
Actually talked to him on the phone just now.
He's been gettin' an overwhelming response since the shooting, getting calls and messages from people he says he doesn't even know, so he was happy to hear from somebody he actually did know.
He has class in that engineering building, but hadn't gone to class yet when it happened. He says all his immediate friends are okay, but he doesn't know about acquaintances. They're still waiting on the list of names.
does he go to that university???
edit: well i'm glad he's okay!
It is a vicious cycle for sure. People have power, so people will abuse power. How do you stop a person with power? You have to be able to overthrow his power with another power. So no matter what we do we will need power to protect ourselves.
This is why guns are a "right".

I don't get your logic. Okay, suppose the government becomes oppressive. Suppose you have reason to rebel. So you gather up a score or so of like minded falla's, good ol' boys with bolt-action hunting rifles, maybe a few NRA poster-boys with pre-ban assault weapons. Anyway, you and your band of Merry Men decide to meet up in the basement of your house and talk strategy. There you are, rifle raised high, daring Uncle Sam to pry it from your cold, dead hands. Your fellow rebels whoot and cheer, raising their own weapons, ready to take on the world!
And then an F-14 swoops overhead, drops a smart bomb which flies through the front door and detonates, killing you all in a split second.
A rifle gives you power over civilians. It does not give you power over the military. If you think otherwise you're fooling yourself. What, do you want to die a martyr, is that it? Wanna be a hero, maybe have your name written down in the history books for fighting against insurmountable odds? What a waste of life that would be.

Me neither.
That's because there's no logic to get. It's just a party/group line without any logic behind it.Quote:

Ever heard of terrorism?
Yeah, I'll wrap a towel 'round my head too if it comes to that.
What's America about anyway, if you can't live how you want, or even die how you want?
