The parents should not remain in a broken marriage, they should do whatever they can to fix it. This (as well as genuine feelings) will be a number one quality I will look for in my partner to make sure they are suitable for marriage.Quote:

Okay makes since. that's how me and my fiancee feel.
stats don't take every individual situation into account and also what about abusive fathers...does that get counted? every situation is different, single parent families can in a lot of cases do a lot better than being nuclear. what you read in stats are not necessarily the real facts...that you will learn
Ofcourse there are cases of abuse, in those situations children are better off when there is a separation. But majority of separations occur for reasons other than abuse and in majority of those cases children suffer as a result, many suffer a lot more than they would if both parents stayed together.Quote:

hey i don't deny that but overall the picket fence idea doesn't happen majority of the time, fair dues to anyone who makes it
i don't believe marriage makes it more difficult for people to break up. more expensive, yes? less easy? no.
one could easily save up a hundred bucks or two per paycheck for a divorce, or ask their parents to borrow some money. hell my divorce would be free because i have free representation. woohoo!
look at the end of the day marriage is a silly piece of paper, even married people leave each other, marriage isn't going to make a blind bit of difference. the sad thing is the way people hold on to it like it's such an important thing to do...bullshit, good couples even break up over it, ridiculous
It depends on which jurisdiction you are in. In some places there is a legal requirement for formal separation period before divorce can be finalised (6 months to a year). In some places there is a counseling requirement. You have to attend a court. You have to split property (another legal proceeding).Quote:

It's not as simple as just "See ya, we broke up".
it's not that simple either way.
For ****s sake, you put way to much emphasis on what a stupid piece of paper says. If two people live together, there is NO DIFFERENCE. Other than a higher tax or some shit like that.Quote:

No, dont' get married. Stay single forever and spread HIV/AIDS and all the other lovely infections and diseases to every stretch of humanity until almost everyone dies out. If you're going to stay single, you might as well sew a ****ing condom to your dick.
