right so a child needs a family. you have 2 couples exactly the same standard and you have to choose. one couple are gay and one couple are straight. who do you choose?
you have 2 separate children with the same scenario...choose both obviously. my point is a practical and honest point..do gooders.
bitter?...hmm not yet....old?...maybe by your standards fras
A lotto will choose.Quote:

Identical in standards and ability to care for a child but one couple is straight and the other is same-sex?Quote:

I would choose the hetero couple, no question. The why is simple: its the socially accepted norm. Growing up is hard enough for a child without him/her having to deal with the intolerance the rest of society would deal out to the same-sex parents.
That said, I don't have a huge N, but I do know some same-sex couples and they all do seem to suffer from more issues than the equivalent hetero couples. That's not to say I wouldn't choose them over a white-trash hetero couple to raise a child, tho.
That sort of the argument you are making, Eco? If so, I agree with you. I just wouldn't use the biologically argument so directly. Its more of a social norm argument.
Really? How about you reread your original post:Quote:

I was merely rephrasing it back to you so you realize how SAD it sounded in the first place. You didn't give an opinion on marriage, you judged the people who engaged in it, as a 'sad bunch'.
I don't give a shit if any of you get married or not, I don't care if the idea of it offends you or not. Whatever. Stay single til you die, marry a broomstick. I'm not going to call you out on it until you start degrading me for my life choice. Which you did.
I think something that is failed to be missed here is while we are deciding who deserves a child more a straight couple or a gay couple we are operating under the idea that there is somehow a shortage of orphans and a choice has to be made.
There is no shortage of childless parents. There is a shortage of those suitable to actually be parents at a reasonably decent level. I'll take gay or straight if the child finds itself in a loving stable environment. When its in the childs best interest we can't turn our noses up at homosexual couples who would make fit parents when orphanages are packed.
Damned straight. So to speak.Quote:

Sure, gays should be able to get married, but I'm not sure about adoption.
