relationships are complicated..what can I say. I'd love to emancipate myself from this shitty relationship....but it would hurt her too much. Call me an ******* because I'm afraid of hurting her.
Carp, your going to hurt her more by doing this. She's going to think your an ass, but she's also going to feel realy down about this. what your trying to do will make her feel like she's worthless!
Of course you don't want to hurt her. Dragging this out will only make it worse in the end though.

Hehe, for the record, I don't feel like I'm too nice. I have my opinions and convictions, I've had them for a very long time, and nobody had to change me to have me think the way I do. I certainly don't get walked on, and I'm not afraid that I will just because my love and compassion and want for happiness comes easily. I honestly think you're making a mistake, carp, even if not by breaking up with her (which I would submit that THAT in itself is a mistake), but then in intentionally hurting her for the point of getting rid of her. You think I'm too nice? How bout you man up and just break up with her, and then do your best, like everybody else, to not have contact with her. Yes, life sucks sometimes, but if you're so comfortable with your life outside of your gf, than you should be able to take it upon yourself to act respectably, and take her feelings into consideration, not just the inconviniences it causes you.
Update..
The words of RoseB have made sense to me. I have decided not to blow her off and be mean to her. Many of you have learned the hard way..that you have messed up relationships..I don't want to look back 10 years from now and realize what I threw away.
I'm going to tough it out and give it my best shot..it may fail...but it's better that way in the totality of the circumstances.
