Is it 'okay' to seek a sex partner if spouse is forever severely disabled/incapable

I've heard of comatose women getting pregnant and giving birth while still comatose. That can't be healthy.

Exactly. The way I see it, if I were to somehow land into a permanently vegetative state, I would want my partner to be happy. We're still young, so it would be unfair to expect him to live out his life with just him and his hand. I'd expect him to be there for me, and care for me, but if it was apparent I was never coming back, he can sleep with whoever he wants.

Also, I like to note that the spouse would NOT be sleeping around and having multiple partners. They would only have one companion and that companion may also be in a similar situation.

Assuming I could discuss this w/my husband, I would. Interesting that noone suggests that simple thing.

Anyway, he would expect me to care for him (as I would him). That's what the vow means. But he wouldn't begrudge me taking a lover, and neither would I him if the situation were reversed, so long as things were discreet & contraception was taken care of.

If your partner went deaf, would you stop listening to music? Would your partner expect you to? I think that's very unreasonable. Marriage is supposed to enrich your life and make you more productive to society, not end your life & close off all options.

Lesa said in the original post that the spouse said it was okay. I think I'd be a lying, cheating s.o.b. even if they didn't, but she did mention it, which is why I was surprised so many people said no anyway.
