I guess that makes a little more sense once you elaborated. Plus all the guys and girls of my grade have each other's phone numbers. Whether interested or not. So it wouldn't even be awkward. Though it'd be nice if you could give an example scenario or something. Since I am still a little blurry.

If I were in this situation, this is how I would handle it:
Me: Hey.. what's your name again?
She answers.
Me: Nice to meet you. I'm sure you get this a lot, but I was wondering if you wanted to go to _______ after school.
She answers.
Me: Great. Can I get your number so we can decide on a time later?
That's just a rough little sketch. It's not complicated. And plus, things change depending on her answers. She might say "get lost" when you ask her name.
Just go with it.

I don't think that right after she tells me her name I should say:

^.^ yeah my friend was basing her quote off the fact that you told him to get her number first. asking her to the smoothie place would make it a lot easier to get the number after.
lol she reminded me that that's how i get her number. I told her i would like to take her to a movie and got her number so i could plan it out with her. ^.^ sadly we never started dating lol just became friends.
