That's a book, and I've heard of it, yes. It discusses the ways in which people manipulate statistics for political gain, or some other cause. I don't take it as irrefutable attack on the sciences of sociology, psychology, anthropology, and several other fields.Quote:

Someone wrote a book using that phrase as a title? Hmm. I hope Mark Twain (or whoever originally said it) got paid for it.Quote:

Anyway, I'd take the term "science" when describing those fields with a grain of salt. :D
Certainly, there is lots of disagreement in those fields, and in those cases where multiple studies contradict one another, there's no one you can truly put authority in.
There's really no disagreement among researches on this issue, though. The consensus is pretty overwhelming.
Not to me, it isn't. But you are free to be overwhelmed.
Well, I guess you can't argue with that.
Vashti, I wish I lived in your world, it sounds like a happier place than this one with the blue sky and yellow sun.
I suppose so! the women I know like sex (dirty old ladies!) hahaQuote:

I don't want to get too much further off topic, but I always find it extremely odd that people accept anything as fact as long as there is a consensus between researchers or philosophers. I find it absolutely absurd that theories are accepted and treated as fact simply because "everyone agrees" that something is truth instead of proving that it is true. I am not attacking your statements about various scientific fields sirwagginston, I simply disagree with the notion that consensus = fact.Quote:

I agree with Incognito. At one time the consensus was that the world was flat and that Earth was the center of the universe, and look where that got us.
and so ... the consensus in this thread is that women have higher sex drive than men ?? ;)
No. Only Vashti and me.Quote:

Honestly, the Love Forum is obviously not fit to represent the average population. Guys that come here are more likely to be weenies (hey im a nice guy how come no girlfriend??), and the female userbase is freakier than usual (points emphatically at qwerty).
