the purpose is there: to make them more afraid of us than we are of them.
this is the number one problem we have in this country. we're afraid of our government when the government should be afraid of us.

The fixing of fear of Government is violence and making everyone more afraid.
More fear and chaos will certainly fix everything and put everything in its right place.
You can't be serious.Quote:

I was going to say Mish was just being facetious, but I don't think so. That was full blown sarcasm.Quote:

They should be more worried about losing their jobs if they are abusing their position.Quote:

The police training seems really dodgy these days. Something wrong w/the ppl who are going into the field; never used to be this way as I recall, the standards seemed so much higher. Did you guys hear about the fellow who was Tasered at the Vancouver airport by our much-lauded RCMP? The poor man died of heart damage...he staggered around the airport for hours & noone helped him.
disgusting. i'd bet money that that cop keeps his job.

I can't believe you're the only one who picked it up :D
Hmm, well some fellow managed to get the interogation on vid thru the glass at the airport! The police kept claiming there were only 3 officers involved, but there are clearly 4 uniformed officers in the vid.Quote:

The RCMP took the video, saying they would return it the next day, then reneged. The fellow had to hire a lawyer to get them to give it back. Now its been released. The police are not handling this at all professionally. Tasers are a new weapon for them & mistakes were bound to happen. They should've just owned up to it & explained the steps they are doing to improve things. Very disappointing & bad for their image, esp since I know two officers personally (not involved in the incident, tho).
