This is odd, is registration turned off for the website? People can no longer find website because is not on google as a relationship website anymore?
Not only that posters like Hoo and Glyc disappeared.
It cannot be the 18 character password because my browser is set to recall it for me, I use Google Chrome.
I read your thread and checked google and I cannot find any link or reference to this site without knowing its name and typing it in. Meaning it does not show for any love or relationship adive website, that would be why no new members but does not explain why the 2 you mentioned, plus pcmaster, fearoflove, even bunny, and gale are not logging in. Only a handful of old posters are posting here now. Someone must have been creating a lot of fake accounts here and either got banned or left and that dried up a lot of new threads. Wish loveadmin( or whatever new screenname is now) would tell us what is going on.

Funny, this site still comes up for me when I google search "love forum." But, I'll bet that is just because I frequent the site so often. I think Google remembers sites you visit a lot and will prioritize it for you in related search results. It wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't show up for others anymore based on that ridiculous name change.
I think that and the password are probably large contributors to us basically having no new members joining. Sure, some browsers offer to remember your password for you, but not everybody uses that or even wants to use it. I am sure the 18 character password is contributing to the issue. Seems sadly inevitable that this site will just die. Shame because it has been a great site for so long. Even through all the spam and bull crap lately we still managed to muddle through.
In the end, it will be lack of activity that kills the site. Sad, really.

I think Glyc was last on when the spammer was banned and we got avatars back and then gone right after. Hoo left after new members dried up, and I think pcmaster only logs in to bump his journal thread in love when it gets close to locking. Rest not sure, maybe that Peter guy who got jailed? is under conditions no longer allowed internet, and why he is gone?
I never checked if it shows in google results How come on the registration form here it still says you need to make an 8 character password, and not an 18 one? Go look and see it still says 8., I clear my browser daily to might not show in my results. But, good to know that it still shows for you, TheEvilJester, that is a bit hopeful.
did anyone check to see if registration is turned off as you mentioned? and maybe it is on but people are not receiving their activation email for actually post on the forum, that might be glitched.

I WOULD check if new peeps can still successfully register... but I don't want to log out. I don't trust this site anymore to be confident I wouldn't have issues logging back in.
Though didn't one of us recently have an issue with their main account and thereby register a new account? I'm suddenly drawing a blank who had that problem, but I think that happened recently enough to assume that new registrations probably ARE working. It's probably just that nobody is bothering and/or less people are even finding the site.
^ You might be talking about my account, this one? But lots of new members were still joining then, and website name was still the same then only 18 char p/w was in effect then and we got avatars here. I haven't checked, Exeter, but when I made mine that melly one I think I got an email for activating for that account back then.
Oh. You may be right, then. Maybe the problem is more so the name change. Again, I still have to think at least SOME potential new members are deterred by the ridiculous length requirements for the passwords. But, if nobody can even find the site anymore, then that certainly would deter new members.
I just had to change my password and it told me all I needed was an 8 character password so I tried it changing my old one slightly and I expected it to tell me like others have encountered that you need an 18 character one but that must have been changed recently because he is the new message I got:
The password you entered is not complex enough. Your password needs to have at least 2 characters in capitals or/and lowercase and 2 numbers

Does not say anything about needing to be 18 characters anymore. All I did was change to add 2 capitals and 2 numbers and my apssword is only 10 characters in length. So, that was changed and yet still no new members? On process of elimination it has to be the website name change?
Jus thought I would update all who cares.
Hi I am a new memeber. I searched "love fourm" and this website pop up. Also it took a while to activiate my account because the email went to my spam folder. Maybe other new people are having that problem too.
I wish they changed that before I was forced into making that 18 characters one for my account :(

So this account, breathe123( I think) and yourself ( Topaz) got caught with the 18 character password then, could probably go into settings and change it to another one that is the 8 with stipulations now set.

The forum is all configured wrong on the main page and says security cert is invalid. Here we go again. The forum was offline for 2 days and it comes back to this mess????? Obviously, no one can log in unless they try more than a handful of times. Says security cert is for Okdwo .. which is that watch marketplace site at bottom of forum one of his sponsors, ad revenues?
Still no one, jester, cant? I sent a PM to admin other day about the invalid certificate, no reply.
What happened? Took almost 10 days for me to be able to log in? Guess site is abandoned again? Lovebroken you should be made a moderator on here, then Jester too but you are always trying to help this place out.

I went through some employment changes, and just have been focusing a lot on personal goals.
Overall, just kind of in a weird position in life. No traumatic or bad experiences happened, actually more good things! But I've just been re-examining things and re-evaluating who I am as a person, looking into new hobbies, etc,
I tried to login one day and the site had forgotten my password, and at that time, I had so much going on that I just felt kind of tired with all the spam, got a little burnt out of providing advice in the other sections, etc. That I just put it on the backburner.
Today I was actually just laying around and tried searching for the site. I initially thought the site got shutdown!!

Hi, Glyc. It's my other account I had to make when the forum locked me out after it changed password requirements I think you were gone at that time. I switch between this account and mellyann to help fill the forum since it is ****ed recently and no new members.

looks like we have an invalid certificate now and it is scaring potentials away. the admin needs a good it person to check the forum and fix the bugs.
I wasn't able to get on for a while. It was like the site was just blocked. I'm apparently back now. Who knows how much longer that will last?
In recent years, I see a lot of forums have hit an all time low in terms of the activity, or the mannerisms of certain users. The ones that are still active have some posters saying interesting statements...only to be ridiculed by trolls thereafter.
On Reddit, I saw one guy state how he felt about a game, without cussing anyone, but then he got subjected to hate posts by some nut. Going by what the thread starter had said, I couldn't think what warranted that type of response.
I don't know what gets into some people. Why should they always display an elitist attitude with something they love?

Hmm. New hobbies.. I've mostly been watching documentaries, podcasts, focusing on just being healthier/working out regularly once again. A childhood friend moved near me again and we have been trying new restaurant/pubs basically weekly. Lots of socializing again actually. Kind of vain sounding, but I've been trying to focus on making myself more attractive too, and just trying new other things out. Researching dumb little tidbits, and love learning.

It's been awhile since I've been in a position where I've just been so stress free with my career and my new job has been really great. It's really poured over into the other parts of my life and just boosted up my quality of life.

No. The site wouldn't even come up AT ALL. Kept getting blocked with some weird error message. I was figuring that it was finally the end. That the site was just gone for good. Hence why I signed up (after a lot of frustrating effort) on the LoveShack. But, after my experience just trying to sign up there I will probably never use that site again. It's still a pity that the 'admin' hasn't assigned any moderators to watch over this site, as I know a few people volunteered. Because I remember when I initially signed up here as "Peter SC" in 2012, there was active moderators, and I know the people here would never ban anyone unfairly, unlike what may occur at a lot of similar relationship advice forums.
It's also pretty disturbing how that Kiwi mentalist still stalks me around the Internet using multiple pseudonyms. The other day, in fact, our fiend edited a page for an actor named "Guy Evans" on the Acting Wiki. And...I just so happened to post about Guy Evans a few weeks ago on this very forum.
I'm still going to contact the police in New Zealand about his abuse, as I still have logs of his childish crap on Biohaze, Love Forum, Wikipedia and elsewhere. It's better waiting until after the holidays and I'd probably have to ring the authorities at night, because of the time difference. I've kept a record of that IP address he used in late 2017 and an ISP would know what sites that IP address will have accessed. It's actually a shame that he's from a place such as New Zealand, because...New Zealand is actually a nice looking country. It's always referred to as being 'that place near Australia' because of its close proximity to Australia, but if you can ignore that, then it's a great place in its own right. But you do get morons the whole world over, unfortunately...

I don't think the name matters because I still type in loveforum & it comes up the same regardless of the name change, same warning as we had years ago though, how long has that been hanging around?
Well, maybe, maybe not. Others have mentioned that this site no longer comes up in their search results because of the name change. It still comes up in mine, and you say it does yours as well. I think that MAY be because some search engines (I use Google, for example) sort of prioritizes search results from sites it knows you visit often. So, I think (I could be wrong) that not everybody's search results are necessarily exactly the same.
So, if that is the case, some complete newbies may not even ever be finding this site at all. Not to mention, even if they ARE, there is still the issue of the name just being weird. "Love Forum..." as a completely new person to the site, I know immediately what that is. "A Cyber Love?" I see that and my first thought may not be "Oh, it's a love advice site."
On the thread order... you can re-order it yourself. That's what I've personally been doing. Obviously it only changes it for YOUR view though. ....And it always reverts right back the second you go back to a new page, so you have to do it constantly. Read a thread, respond, go back and it is back in the wrong order. The new order makes no sense what-so-ever. But, it is what it is, I guess.
where did pcmaster go? he was always a staple on here through whatever dramas the site had, did he get locked out or banned? something happen to him in real life?

Yeah, I haven't seen any of them on in a while. I think with each new round of BS this site puts its members through we lose more and more. How much longer until there is just nobody coming here anymore? I know I REALLY don't want to leave since this is and has been my message board of choice for YEARS now... but if there's nobody around to discuss stuff with then it is a waste of time.
Kinda like another message board I used to visit all the time years ago. I used to go there DAILY and there would be tons of activity. It got slower and slower. These days, I still pop in there from time to time.... but sometimes not for weeks or even months. Even so, each time I do there's only been a few posts since my last visit. This even sometimes after MONTHS away. Really hoping the same does not happen to this place... but it seems it could be headed that way.
I tend to hate video game forums too, because some users don't show any respect for people's opinions. It's not a case of just wanting people to agree with your points, but too often, people just seem to hate criticism about a certain company. At the end of the day, you're just a fan like they are, who shares different values about things.
Honestly, people in general (and especially on the internet) are often very closed to opinions that aren't there own. Sure, it is nice to discuss things with people who agree with you.... but it can also be a lot of fun to discuss things with people who don't. Some of the most interesting discussions I've had in my life have been with people with whom I've disagreed... but when we were both able to disagree respectfully. To respect each other and each other's opinions and discuss our differing opinions in a respectful and constructive way.
Too many people seem to forget that an OPINION, by definition, is generally not right or wrong. It is open to personal interpretation.
