Now Lost has/had Harold Perrineau who has not appeared much.
And Fringe has Jasika Nicole who plays an assistant and Lance Reddick who plays an agent, but once again not main characters.
Stargate does have Christopher Judge. so that's one so far.
Shouldn't you be wondering where all the russian characters are?
nah. i was thinking that now since we have a black president we should be having more main characters on shows.Quote:

TBH, I'm pretty bored of Obama already. He is advertised way too much. Everywhere I turn I see a shirt, a pencil, a ****ing license plate for God's sake. I'm annoyed, you'd swear the guy was jesus.
But yea I wont hijack your thread ranting about how annoying it is. :D
Scrubs and Dr. House have black characters.
oh please do, i don't mindQuote:

Lol nah I'll start a thread all about it and keep this one on topic. This topic might turn into a 5 page arguement.
Well, they are recurrent roles, if that is what you mean... in every episode.Quote:

Watch "The Wire" ... plenty of black folks to go around!
Don't watch it unless you feel like watching an awesome show!
eh shorty.. are you keeping with up 24 this season?

There are a lot more blacks on TV than there are Hispanics or Asians (unless you count their primary-language stations).
Most North Africans have the phenotypic black ancestry. Arab is a culture for those people who may be of European, Asian, and/or African heritage.Quote:

Now, how one identify self is another thing and is up to that individual--not other people (sometimes).
I forgot to mention Heroes:
Jimmy Jean-Louis who plays the Haitian. Dude doesn't even have a name.
Black people? You mean niggas?
I'm pretty darn sure the vast majority of Arabs in north Africa wouldn't consider themselves black.Quote:

I am noting what a North African may be. Arabs would identify themselves as Arab and not by their ethnic or racial origins. It can be similar to saying Hispanic.Quote:

Illusional gave the example of North African in his post and you corrected him in yours. I'm saying there really is nothing to correct Illusional about since North Africans may have "black" (and likely do) ancestries. The people there may be of European, Asian, or African heritage. They will identfy with their culture which may be Arab, etc.
Ah social and biological identification is interesting.
Whatever. Most people self-identify with their CULTURAL roots and by OBVIOUS physical characteristics, which I am sure you know (and Illusional didn't disagree). I may very well have black genes running through my body, but I wouldn't identify myself as black, and if I did, I would risk offending the black community.
I don't disagree with self identification at all. I believe I was saying the same thing. All I am saying is that there was no need to correct Illusional's post since some people there are of "black" descent/contribution.
How the US (especially) or another countries define another human being will be different. It's a social thing in many cases. Just like this example. In the US, we have limits on how we identify people and I understand.
Back on topic:
So who can I post as a main "black" actor that will satisfy? Can the person be Latino and still "black"? What about the Carribean or some English speaking Central Americans "blacks"? There are a great number of black actors/actress of various heritages--and some may not look "black". If they idenify as black all should be well correct?
please google it for yourself.Quote:

Okay, nevermind any lineage of Arabs in North Africa. The main point is the comment about North Africa. Not all North Africans are Arabs..but that was pointed out so I won't make a big deal of this.
In the context of this conversation, it was pretty obvious Illusional was referring to Africans that have black physical characteristics, not those who may have black ancestry. Don't you understand this?Quote:

Don't you understand that there are people that have "black physical characteristics" living in North Africa? Must I repeat that there was really no need to correct him no matter how you may feel about this situation. Actually he could have said almost any place. It was just a little FYI. You may do whatever you want with this information.Quote:

Ah, but I see your point for what he was saying. :)
Okay, whatever Lesa. It is obviously imporatnt to you that you are right, and I don't really care enough to argue about it.
I saw what you were saying. I reread the posts.
I have no issues with saying I am wrong and it's not important that I am right. I am not sure if you can tell from any of my posts. Even the one before the post you just made.
I am not arguing and I could careless. I was giving a little FYI but it went all wrong. I really know what you mean. "Whatever" is the word that tells me to back off.
I wanted to post some but I give up. I tried searching for main characters on prime time shows and could not come up with any. If there, it's not easy to find on a quick web search. I don't watch TV at all so I'm not sure I did a good search. I could think of some old shows of the past but I have no clue now. It looks like CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX do not have them. I'm sure you may find characters on the other networks.
