female 26, male 20?
When age is ignored everything feels right, maturity levels are the same. Yet thinking about such an age gap is uncomfortable... maybe because it isn't the norm? Can it work, is it a big deal?
Guys, how would you see a woman 6 years older than you while you're in your early 20s?
It's ok in your 20's, but when he's 30, you'll be like almost 40, so it's not so cool then. He'll probably leave you for a 21yr old. It happens more than you think.
Damn, that sounds mean. He might not leave you, it depends how much weight you put on. It's not really an age thing.

There's been a spate of posters just lately claiming to be extremely attractive, but they all have trouble keeping/getting a decent man, like myself. guys dont mind much often .. they look at the body and sex often so stupid. or what they can get out of a older woman like
money and wash their clothes and home cook meal etc.
i think woman get mature earlier then men, automatically some things change in your mind etc.

i think everyone should date around their own age.that sounds more healthy and equal.
and often people that date so far from their age younger or older have issues with not being grown up enough or
they did not have a father figure so they date very older guys to feel that security. etc.

6 years is a bit, not not too much. I've dealt with bigger age-gaps than that.
Anyhow realistically. You are 26 female, he is 20. You are going to start feeling embarrassed introducing your young bf to friends and family due to his age when ppl ask. Does he look young too? I know a girl who is dating a 22 yr old and she is 26. This isn't such a big gap, but mentally it is. she has a professional career, he works odd jobs and plays video games all day. She makes triple the paycheque he does because she works long hours and expects to come home to a clean apartment. She comes home to pizza boxes and beer cans and 5 other 22 yr old stoners.
I think that 6 years isn't that big age difference, but you or your partner might feel a bit embarrassed after meeting their or your friends and family.
Also, your partner's friends/family might judge about the age gap....
As your relationship goes further, you might want to start up a family, get married etc soon, but he might not be ready and still wants to have some fun, enjoy life etc.
My bf is two years younger than me...(Yes it isn't that big age gap) but, I feel old/embarrassed when knowing that all his friend's gf is a lot younger than me....
Some of his friends knows how old I am, and all his friends think that I am younger than me.... Whenever we go to Casino or clubbing where we need to show ID....I have to show them my ID, but my bf doesn't. (So in a way, it is good thing since I feel young when that happens lol)
Your biggest problem will be if your relationship continues a few years. Your bodyclock will start screaming 'time to have babies before all my eggs dry up' when he's not nearly ready to start thinking in that direction.
Actually I think the gap is more of an issue now then it would be if you were...... lets say.... 35 and he was 29.

It really depends on you level of expectations. If you are willing to not push for marriage and babies, and just want to enjoy a relationship with no pressures, it will work. I dated a guy 2 and half years younger... surprised it lasted as long as it did. He needed to do a lot of growing up. Fairly recently I had a guy 5 years younger make a pass at me... and he didn't understand why I 1 of the reasons I wouldn't let anything happen was because of the age. Having said that... the best judge of your situation is yourself. Go with your gut instinct. With my ex my guy instinct was he's too immature - it turned out to be right.
I think priorities change with age. Both of you may have different priorities at different points in your lives. As the older one, you may want to get married earlier than he does and he may feel you are rushing him. Same with having kids. You may feel your clock ticking and rush him but all he feels is you are forcing him to do something he is not ready. He may have ambitions to pursue an advanced degree or move up the career ladder but are ready to start a family so this makes you feel that he loves his ambitions more than he loves you. You need to test the relationship for a few years to see there is any mismatch. If he sacrifices his ambition to be with you, he may be bitter and resent it. Likewise, if you continue to be with him without him marrying you while he gets to do what he wants (like climbing up the career ladder, traveling, studying etc), you may resent him too.
Why wait 2 years? It's best to lay out your expectations at the beginning of the relationship. I did that with my guy. I made it very clear, no kids, and no marriage. I gave him the choice to end the relationship if it wasn't for him. This wait and see is a waste of time.
