Would be so sad to see McCain win.
I'm actually worried he might not win. In a sane world he should win by a landslide. Any democrat should win by a landslide after Bush. But I really don't know. It could easily go either way. And that's not only ****ed up, it's downright scary.
I think McCain's choice in running mates helped Obama a lot.
I sort of wish I in were a swing state. Then I'd feel like my vote counted more. Not complaining too much, though since my state is going to go the way I want.
Me too. And everytime I see her I want to give her a makeover. She looks like she's stuck in the '80's.Quote:

Obama! yes! it's the real world am worried about!
why vote for obama when we can have a young woman be the vp and when mccain croaks, we can have someone whose better looking than a kennedy.

what? do u honestly believe he's gonna make a difference? Ive stoppped watching American politics because it just has gotten so ridiculous....Ron Paul would have made a difference..ah well the puppets are playing their games....nothing changes
When McCain choose her, he was quite positive that he would not die in office. How arrogant of him? He didn't pick her as a possible president should something happen to him, he picked her because he was desperate and desperate times call for desperate measures, lol. I would feel insulted if someone picked me for the reasons he would never tell us. He thinks we are not very bright and in some cases he is probably right. Oh well, it's all a game. Let the games begin :DQuote:

Maybe the choice of the "cute white girl" would strike a chord with the voters. Just like the media related to cases of missing children.
so me and my coworkers were talking about this today?? but how hard could it be to govern alaska?? their population is probably smaller than ours...
for that matter, if there are an alaskans here, our governor also sucks.

OMG, while doing a little bit of research, I just 'accidentally' came upon the strangest info on Palin and her family. It's weird and I won't ruin this thread with it because it must be just rumors.
I'll look into more of it later hehe.
Aww, come on Lesa, you tease! Cough it up... We already know she's a religious conservative and a gun nut. What else?
I think McCain did little to no vetting on her!

If I were American I'd vote Obama.
He has a few ideas that seem a bit idealistic, but otherwise I think he's a far better pick than McCain.
Oh, and I think that bit of news from Palin that Lesa was hinting at was that her 17 year old daughter is pregnant.
That and people tried spreading rumors that Palin's fifth child was actually her daughter's which is untrue.Quote:

Personally, I don't think that her 17 year old daughter should even be involved in this and it sickens me that the news is reporting this shit as if it's important. Though I don't agree with a 17 year old having children, why is it all of a sudden such a big deal when it comes from someone famous or someone in politics?
I don't really think the media should care so much about this either since it's obviously a private family matter.Quote:

But I think they do because Palin backed abstinence-only education during her 2006 gubernatorial race, therefore making her seem like a hypocrite. The media will always stir this kind of shit up so they can snag viewers/readers.
Why does it make her a hypocrite? She can teach her opinions to her daughter but it doesn't mean her daughter is going to listen.Quote:

True, but some might find it hypocritical that she wanted to fund an educational program that her own daughter cannot even learn from.Quote:

There's much more than meets the eye Cain. Palin is putting that info into the mainstream media and not the internet gossip people. She decided to 'show off' her daughter's private life like that. She is even cruel enough to display the father of the child too. You'll see that soon as well. No one announced the pregnancy of her daughter to the mainstream media except for her and her fear of the National Enquirer gossip magazine. Strange indeed. I would never choose to sacrifice my children for the 'career' she knew little about eariler.Quote:

I agree Lesa. The whole thing is very strange. What were they going to do with her once she really started showing? Send her off to boarding school? Or give the baby up for adoption?
I don't understand why they tried so hard to hide it in the first place. Yes, it's a private matter, but it was going to come out eventually when the girl started showing. It's like they were completely ashamed of her until the rumors started and then they felt like they had to reveal it.
I was satisfied with Obama's speech regarding the media bringing the daughter into the picture.
Personally, I think there is going to be alot more weird stuff coming out of race in the next coming months. I just read that Palin and her husband were members of the "Alaskan Independence Party," which "since the 1970s has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States" (!!?)
So she wanted to secede from the country she now wants to lead? I hope she gets called out on this during the debate.
It isn't that the media cares. News is business. To stay afloat they've got to shovel dirt to keep the masses appeased. That's what the people want. Sex scandals. Who ****ing cares about politics, right? We want to know who's sleeping with who, and who got knocked up.Quote:

so just to remind you guys, vote for obama.
I agree 100% that this shouldn't be in the news…it’s disgusting and I’m glad that Obama is very respectful on this private matter that has nothing to do with politics. It's wasn't the mainstream media...they kept their mouth's shut until she mentioned it. There was gossip on people's website but they can place rumors and she can sue for libeling or slandering. I think many are thinking that Obama and his crew have something to do with it and that is not true. He doesn’t need to do something like this….in fact, this kind of stuff can hurt him because people may assume that he has something to do with it.Quote:

All of this occurred because people decided to do a little vetting of their own and it goes beyond private family issues and more into Palin’s character/background and we wonder is she is fit become VP and potentially president. Look what she is doing to her own children (and soon the boyfriend) for her own benefits. Plus, like starbuck said, the program she is for does not seem to be working and maybe she should consider adding additional types of education to her sex ed program for her state.
oh whatever. that lady preached and campaigned about how sex education should not be done in schools blah blah blah. her plans and ideas just blew right up in her face.
do us all a favor and don't vote for her. vote for obama.
I'd vote for Obama if I could. The posibility that Republicans may win again after Bush is scary. The Lieberman switch over to back Republicans was wierd. How does someone go for running for the post of a Democrat Vice President of a country and then switch to the opposition after their worst 8 years on record?
I think it's shameful that media digs into private life of candidates, the whole run up to elections has turned into a circus. I can't comprehend how someone can support "abstinence only" education. It shows politicians not addressing real issues and appealing to Religious minorities. It shows how out of touch these politicians really are with today's youth. I think teenagers need real education that will help them.
sarah palin has a kid with downs syndrome!
i know many mothers of many children with special needs and i tell you they would never have the time or energy to run any kind of public office.

She'll just carry her child around with her as a prop for some kind of political gain. :evil:Quote:

The media circus around the elections and speeches from candiates (especially Republican) are getting more twisted and nastier. The actual policies are getting lost between the lines, the run down to elections is degenerating into who can scream the loudest and throw the most amount of dirt at the opponent. Truth is probably the main victim in all this. I don't understand why McCain is being promoted by Republicans as a master of change when he stands for exactly the same kind of policies supported by Bush.
Palin:
"In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers," she said. "And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change."

Will anyone call her out on it?
Perhaps most confusing speech was given by Mike Huckabee. In his own words:
On the first day of school in 2005, Martha Cothren, a teacher at Joe T Robinson High School in Little Rock, was determined that her students would not take their education or their privilege as Americans for granted.
With the principal's permission, she removed all the desks from her classroom on the first day of school, 2005. The students entered the empty room and asked, "Mrs Cothren, where are our desks?" "You get a desk in my classroom when you tell me how you earn it," she replied.
As the students filed in, Martha Cothren said, "Well, I didn't think you would figure it out, so I'm going to tell you."
Martha opened the door of her classroom. In walked 27 veterans, some wearing uniforms from years gone by, but each one carrying a school desk.
These brave veterans went halfway around the world, giving up their education and interrupting their careers and families so we could have the freedom we have.
As they carefully and quietly arranged the desks in neat rows, Martha said, "You don't have to earn your desks... these guys, they already did.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7597261.stm
Mike forgot to mention how this bizarre story carefully scripted to promote McCain's Vietnam war experience, a war that was lost had to do with freedom experienced today and earning your desk in a school. There would have been plenty of freedom today if the Vietnam war was never started in the first place and there would probably be even more desks and even more schools if that war money was spent on education instead.
I don't like Obama, He creeps me out.
mccain and palin want to drill in alaska, theeeeeee last frontier that hasn't been raped by people, permanently killing wildlife in it's wake.
i don't like that.
vote for obama.
LoL, I just signed the "drill in Alaska" web page. Drilling in a little area won't do crap and who the hell plans to live in Alaska?Quote:
