Weird request, I know but I seem to have a knack for them. At the moment, I have been listening to:

I never heard that song, but I really like it. Anyway, you would probably not like my sad songs because I am old. :(
Dusty Drake - One Last Time

I like to think of myself as an open minded guy, try me.Quote:

Here are a few. I don't know that these are all really "sad" (Louis Armstrong) so much as they make me feel melancholy. Anyway, they are all beautiful.
Janis Ian - At Seventeen (1975)

Simon & Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence

I couldn't find a link to Simon and Garfunkel's Scarsborough Fair (the canticle lyrics are very sad) but I found this:

Louis Armstrong

Clay Walker - Where do I fit in the picture
Brad Paisley - Whiskey Lullabye

Nah, that is the music is technically of my mother's generation, but I still love it. Anyway, I think labels such as "despairing" and "social criticsm" sort of implies it is sad. It makes me sad, anyway.
:)
I like a lot of the music of the late 60s/early 70s specifically because of it's social criticism.
hrmm..i seen the sn eurasian... and saw the moderator thing, so i figured that it had to be you.

Goodbye my lover - James Blunt
You're Beautiful - James blunt (Well I don't know if I can call it a sad song . You can read the lyrics and I decide it yourself)
Tom Waits- Blind Love. Tom's not for everyone, but he works for me.
Patti Griffin- Making Pies
Blank & Jones - Fallen
But besides that, everything by Sting
Brad Paisley & Alison Krauss - Whiskey Lullaby. About a guy who has his heartbroken by a girl, becomes an alcoholic then kills himself, she blames herself and starts drinking - then she too, commits suicide. Pretty sad.
Sarah McLachlan - Do what you have to do.
Damien Rice - Cannonball.
Coldplay - Fix you.
Blink 182 - Stay together for the kids. Probably not sad for many people, but if you listen to the lyrics and have ever been in that situation, then it's kind of emotional.
Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley
I had to listen to this song at least ten times before I would stop crying from it. Very good song though.
