Why do so many people have be so shy about this topic? Come on, the more we talk about it, the more normal it will become and the more people will be happy. We all know how aggressive and unhappy people can become if they do not have a healthy and happy sex life - and often it is seen as 'you need to have a partner, to be healthy in that department'. Such b.s. if you ask me.

You can only be happy with someone else, if you are happy on your own.

I don't do it but I know my bf has and tbh it kind of disgusts me. I know it may be "natural" but I've caught my bf doing it and tbh it was one of the grossest things I've ever witnessed. At first I didn't like him doing it, but I don't care anymore because his libido is a lot higher than mine, and I understand he needs a little release every now and then. But I honestly can't understand why guys have so little self-control in this area to the point that they would have to do this to themselves. Why is is disgusting? Its normal behaviour and is not even classed as sexual behavior. most adults, most animals and even Children and even babies sometimes touch themselves. It is a way to relieve stress, anxiety.. it comforts people etc and it feels good. Why not do it? If someone told you chocolate is bad, would you stop eating it??

Yes, I understand now the reason guys do it, and that it is normal. I just said it was disgusting because of how it looks. Just like pooping is normal, but it's disgusting to watch someone doing it or even to think about. Normal or not, when I caught him doing it in the bathroom it really grossed me out. He was moving his hand back and forth really fast and hard, and he was even breathing real heavy. It looked like he was trying to rub off the skin off his d*ck he was going at it so hard and violently. I even wonder if it bleeds when he does it, but I guess it does not. It just seems really disgusting to me to watch, and from what I saw I might even call it a "self-abusive" act. It really looked to me like he was trying to hurt himself.

Female soon to be 21.
Never bought/owned any sex toys - dildos or vibrators.
When - in my own bed.
Usually to fall asleep, or thinking of someone irl or a celebrity I have a crush on, doesn't matter who though. No set times a week to do it, whenever it happens.

I was a late bloomer and didn't start exploring my own body until I was about 22/23. I've only ever used sex toys during sex with another person, and only a few times. I use my fingers and it takes me anywhere from 20 seconds up to 7 minutes (give or take) for me to get off. To be honest, I prefer sex to masturbation; but I'll flick the bean from time to time, if it's been a while since I've had sex, or I can't seem to fall asleep haha. I think self exploration is very important in order to understand your own body and what/where/how you want to be touched. I definitely think masturbation needs to be discussed more often, especially among women and younger populations. Kids aren't told that masturbation is normal and healthy, which is ridiculous. It should be taught during sex education discussions, so everyone learns at a young age that masturbation and sex are perfectly healthy, normal experiences.

Have you ever just talked to him about it. I have to say that the guy I am with masturbates on a regular and it actually is a stimulant for me.
