OK.. I've been doing a lot of thinking this past month of being single and I am extremely confused as to what my ex wanted out of me. He made effort with me, spent new years eve with me, met my friends, my family would always come to my house, pick me up etc.. all to cheat on me with an ugly girl and see her behind my back? Not to mention he had kids and didnt even tell me? He wasn't even gettin sex, why was he with me if he was just going to hurt me?
Why would he leave you for someone uglier? She probably was willing to sleep with him. But, what does it matter if he left you for someone uglier?
You could just look at it in the time tried and true manner of: You dodged a bullet, be grateful he turned out to be an ass and left you now instead of later when it'd really hurt you financially and emotionally.
Yeah but I don't understand why he was with me... I was so nice to him, wasn't clingy, questioning his every move.. clearly i should have! But I just don't understand why he would waste his time with me. When we broke up we spoke on the phone afterwards and he said "it was just a casual romance, you know, girlfriend and boyfriend its cute."
Guess what, you probably won't ever get a sense of closure from him.
And no, clearly you shouldn't have. You should have picked a better class of man to date is what you should have done. And it's what you should be working on doing now.

Some people are just slime, there are millions of reasons why someone would want to be selfish, but it doesn't really matter. Just be more cautious when you look for your next partner, spend some time to get to know him.
this is how "I" am... when i get bored with a girl, i look for a new interest. he probably did the same thing.
