How did you know you were Broken Up?

I have faced like many here break ups over the years. Most have had me and my partners tell each other it was over and we were officially done. But I have heard other ways of breaking up, from the partners no longer talking, one moving on without telling the other they had done so, to others saying "we're done or we're threw" that meaning that the relationship was over. To others even asking the other "Are we breaking up? or Are you breaking up with me?" among other ways. Which way do you think is the right way to know that you have broken up with someone?

Wow- memories of humiliation! I got in a fight on the phone with my bf once when I was about 20 years old. He was pushing me to get married and I refused, telling him we needed to go slowly and graduate college first.
