Can anyone throw a long term relationship that easy?
Yes. people will do it for many reasons. The relationship is too toxic, they get infatuated with someone else, they lost their feelings, boredom, stressed out, etc.
Unfortunately yes. There are many different reasons and people themselves are very different in terms of what they see a long term relationship can be, what their dating preferences are and whatnot. Also sometimes just life gets in the way and the person sees no other option than to move on.
Oh, absolutely. Usually, they've been thinking about it for a long time and made the decision with plenty of time to consider all of the details. It just seems easy and sudden to you.
I think the only person who thinks their long term relationship has been "thrown away", are the people who get dumped because they are too blind to realize the problems within their relationship. I left my most serious relationship after 5 years because it was incredibly unhealthy and codependent, and I deserved better. I did not just "throw" that relationship away. It took years to come to that decision, and it was the most difficult decision I've ever had to make. Even if everything about your relationship screams at you to end it, it's still not easy for most people. However, if something isn't making you happy, you are free to change it and you should be unapologetic about dropping things from your life that do not keep you happy.

Definitely yes, for any number of reasons, including just because the relationship is long-term, doesn't mean that entire time both parties were happy in the relationship. It is not uncommon as humans for us to miss signs of distress from our long-term partners, either consciously or subconsciously.
