Love advice, DUH.

Hi, I'm a new member on this forum so, be gentle. I'm a freshman at highschool, and at the highschool I go to, it's tradition that older students show the school to the freshmen at the first day at school. So I see a glimpse of a beautiful blonde-brunette girl, 2 years older than me. But I didn't really care much to be honest. So while we were walking trough the school she's kinda close to me, and was very nice and polite to me. Second day of school, I'm sitting in the park before school with a friend, and while she's walking next to me she just literally stares at me. That goes on for a little while, after wich she tries to start a conversation, and I talk to her for a little bit but she's too shy I guees, to contiue the conversation. So, next week I want to ask her, why she's behaving, so, weird when I'm around. She just ignores me, avoids me for a while. So I take that as a "I'm not interested", and I leave it be. But these past few days she again, looks at me, and briefly stares and smiles at me etc. So what do I do?

Well I try to be, but she either ignores me, or is too shy.
