Am I being played?

So I met him a few months ago and we click very well. He's sweet and is a chef. I go see him at his job almost every weekend, mainly cause he works at a bowling alley and there is a karaoke room and a restaurant connected to it. Every time he gets off, he takes me home and we spend hours in his car talking until almost 4:00am. BUT I recently learned that he lives with his babymama. I have no problem with him having a child. I love children and ask about his daughter every time we meet. I just don't feel comfortable that he lives with the mother. He says he wants to be my boyfriend and that the babymama is almost out the picture. I feel that he is sincere cause he told me straight up, but because I am young, I want to get an opinion before I dive in. Is he playing me and trying to make me a side chick? Or am I just being insecure?
