If the guy laughs about every thing and on every joke you say, he is not nice, he is usually fake and he just wants sex.
But usually, quiet guys are not fake. Many guys turn silence when they see a girl they love, shyness, me too. I just get a bit nervous and don't know what to say since I want to be with her.

I think it takes a bit of time. Just like with anyone, when you get to know them better, you get a much better gauge at how they are as a person. Same goes with relationships. The suggestion about seeing how he is with his friends is a good one... if he is significantly different (by that I mean more debauched), it may raise a red flag.

There is no NICE guy, or a BAD guy, pretty much it all just depends on how the feel about you and how you feel about them, the same guy who may have thought about blowing his brains out over you can end up just not caring about you anymore. People's feelings change thus their attitudes do to, its not like he was a jerk all the long lets say, maybe he just got fed up with takin shyt or vice versa for girls.
