What is the difference between 'seeing someone' and 'going out with someone'???
Someone asked one of my mates today if he was going out with this girl. He said no and that he was just seeing her.

Depends on who you ask. I think they're the same. The difference to him might be exclusivity.
I agree with TAVS.
It means the same thing. Your buddy is on crack. Tell him to put the pipe down.
"Why are you an atheist?"
"because I paid attention in science class."
Means the same where I'm from o.O
Here's the thing about dating. Any age, from high school to forty, no one knows what they're talking about.
He didn't mean it as the same as dating. He said he was keeping free for his holiday with the lads.
Coffeecrazy----Perhaps "seeing her" is just going out on dates, nothing too serious, no special plans for next week and the week after. Just as-and-when. No time frame set. So if there's a soccer match on and the lads are meeting down at the pub, well...the girl is second choice. "Not tonight dear, I'm busy (meeting the lads)".
"Going out" might imply - She's my girlfriend and I'm serious about her. Meeting at the pub? Okay, what time, me and my girl will be there!!
it's the same thing.

Thanks chlorine, always there to help!!
Coffeecrazy---No worries. Reckon we all need some sort of opinion to help us along.
This is off the subject, but you know what, I saw a rainbow today. It was tipping buckets and the sun was going down, and I look out the window and somehow the angle, just at that moment, there was a rainbow outside my window. It was surreal. Haven't seen a rainbow so up close. And I started thinking, it's rare occasions like seeing a rainbow, which helps me get through life.
Chlorine... wow, that's crazy. One time, I saw a rainbow, got a picture of it with my camera, and then when I put the camera away and looked at it again (this was literally 5-10 seconds), the rainbow had disappeared completely. I'm crazily analytical, so I made some analogy about that to life. xD
Glad to see someone really puts emphasis on these sorts of things... thought I was one of the only ones. Those sorts of things help me get through life too, Chlorine.
If a dream comes true... then is it still a dream?
'seeing someone', 'going out with someone', 'dating', are all the exact same thing.
I've only seen rainbow twice in my life. The first was in CA, last year. Though have seen it on TV for thousands of times, I was amazed when I first saw it in real life. BTW, it was not as bright as it looks on TV, but more transparent. You just feel exited and feel the heart is crystal transparent for 5 seconds...
