    Emotional side effect from music?

Anyone have a certain song that sparks emotion?. I don't mean like its an awesome song, you like it, or you relate to it. I mean something wierd. I dont know how many people saw the movie american beauty...now I dont know about the movie..it was ok I guess...but there is a song in there by Thomas Newman. Two songs actually. One is called "Any other name" and the other "dead all-ready" and he made a mix were he put both songs together called Jakkata dreams. I am saying this because the song causes really wierd emotions in me...I get teary eyes and yet the song calms me down, gives me a type of suburbia teenage love gut feeling(seriously, that is the best way I can describe it). Wierds, oddest, strangest effect anything has ever had on me and maybe someone here has a type of song like that too. All that and the song doesn't even have lyrics.

Any emotional experiences with music, movies, and other type of arts?

I listen to Country, many songs have an emotional effect on me, that's why I listen.

I know exactly what you mean, OV. There are some tracks on the Braveheart soundtrack (no lyrics either) that can make me feel similair to what you described - just like a rush of emotion, you can't really explain it or understand it, it's just... there.

yea i have that emotional thing with some songs too , but most of the time i just feel like a ton of TNT and if someone messes with me while in this state of mind i wont hold back . Makes me feel like a rush of energy and excitement = me being very fast , reflexes = very good in a fight cuz i can block/dodge more shots now.

I would figure that everyone would have some kind of feeling during music but anyone experience an odd one? Beyond being angry when a heavy metal song plays or sad when a mellow song plays?. Some thing you almost can not explain?

Yep, and while some can differ the odd ones are hard to describe and explain.

There are songs/music that represent certain parts of my life.

Like if I listen to a CD a lot during an emotionally stressful time of my life or even just a really good time of my life, anytime I listen to that artist/songs those emotions get revived.

I just hate when a song reminds me of a girl.

'Specially when I feel like I've forgotten her.

I certainly agree with the OP - there are definately some songs that stir an emotion within me for no particular reason. For example, a song that would silence me a lot back in the day was called seeing red or something like follow the leader, I can't remember. I don't know who the song is by - but it moved me in a wierd kind of way.

I guess some songs have that ability. And as for braveheart - that bagpipe music is VERY moving - if you are not touched by it - then your not human, and you have a heart of stone.

    Oh, BTW, nine point nine

yea , some songs that they put in kindergarden used to make me cry when it was "nap time"...it wasnt a song , it was just music...instruments ...i dunno why but it wasnt sad or anything ..it made me feel all weird and uncomfertable and i heard something similar yesterday and the same feeling came back ...i dint cry but i tried to figure it out ...

anyways , same thing with both RSK and O-V ... some songs become part of the soundtrack of my life , example ; when i broke up with my Gf , when i used to do drugs all day everyday ...and when i stopped doing drugs (i took pics the last time i did it , just to see that look i got on my face when i'm high on something)

Now that I think about it. The song that gives me that feelings might have a past attachment to it..hmm..Its old to me and I new it before I become obsessed about that girl.

i still think that one of the best love songs that has an emotional significance to me would be "end of the road" by boyz to men. everytime i hear that song, it makes me think that the relationship is comming to an end.

Songs about aging, passing of time, mortality, etc. tend to make me very
I also cry at lots of movies and LOVE art museums (even modern art museums). Beautiful paintings of people are the best because they tend to move the soul.
