How often?

Hi everyone, hope your all doing ok

Just a little question really, been with my boyfriend for nearly 18 months now, and we were together for a year before that, splitting up for bout 4 months inbetween. Anyway everything is great, brilliant in fact. We hardly ever argue, have time apart seperately with friends and we are still very loving and affectionate. We talk about marriage and kids one day when i finish uni and we have a house etc (hes 20 and im 21).

All i am wondering is that i have heard people say that after some time people go through dips in having sex. We arent having as much as we used to, and i just wondered if this happened to most couples after being together for some time. Its never an issue, and niether of us ever refuses or anything, its just its not initiated as much anymore if you know what i mean.

I know all through decemeber my boyfriend was working very long hours and was coming home very late, as december is a very busy month for the bang and olufson shop he works at where he is an assistant manager. So he has been very tired, and ive got exams and all sorts at uni so just dont feel in the mood a lot of the time.

Basically after all this waffle what i am trying to ask is this normal? Do most couples go through this? Not really worrying as such because everything is perfect, just more curious

... fine - yes, it is a normal thing a lot of people go through. It's been discussed here before and there are some threads that list a lot of good ideas on new things to try to "spice things up" - but I would ask if you have talked about this with your b/f and got his thoughts on it?

Thanks for the reply. I havent really spoken to him about it because it doesnt really seem to be an issue as of yet....

i should explain why i think this i guess

we dont live together so we only have sex anyway if one of us stays over at the others house (i.e when parents are in bed in case they walk in) lol

and i used to stay over at his house a lot more than I do now because in the summer i was off from uni for a long time but now im back at uni and working 3 early mornings i spend more nights in my house. I think i would be worried if we lived together because we would be with each other every night, but now its usually only 2 nights i actually stay over at his house.....does this make sense?

Sure, makes perfect sense.

And it explains things a little better to why you might not be gettin busy more often.. as there aren't as many opportunities to - with both you living at your parents. A lot of people deal with this, I did... and when I moved out.. wow it was GREAT! Anytime you felt like it.. you could!

Where the heck do you live that your parents would let the two of you stay the night together?? Could never get away with that here... at least in my experiences.. you must have a nerdy/goody-two-shoes boyfriend that your parents feel they can trust, huh!?

his parents have been fine with it from the beginning really, mine took a while to come around... like a year lol but they do really like him and they are very accepting now...and besides we are 20 and 21...we talk about living together and we cant wait...but it wont be till i finish uni in another years time so i have a decent income too

Depends on your parents Tone. When I was 17 I had a 'relationship' with a 21-yr old from Georgia Tech. My mom didn't mind if we shared a bed. Then in college, when I was dating my Ex, we lived together at Mom's during the summers. I guess it might come down to how responsible your folks see you as being....or in some cases, how nieve your folks may be.

meh , my parents didnt mind when i used to bring girls over for some fun , i was 16 back then , i remember one of the funniest things they did is after they saw me bringing a girl home , they brought back a pack of condoms , wich i got mad at them sort of , why ? the damn condoms did not fit me , they were too tight cutting my blood flow resulting in bad BADD pain .

now on the girls side , if the parents find out , it usually means shes screwed over big time and they usually kick her out of the house or ground her badly , ohh did i mention i only dated immigrants .

LoL damn... when I was 17 I was down in my room asleep with my g/f at the time under the covers and my mom tore into me!

But have to admit - when there is that risk of being caught it can "heighten" the experience... like whenever we would hear someone coming in or out the backdoor and we would stop.. just praying they don't come downstairs... and while in that moment... I start goin slowly.. back in.. then out... and seein her trying her hardest not to make any noise... fun times!

Thanks for all the replies, im interested in knowing if anyone else has gone through this when younger...or if anyone is going through the same situation now! Can be very frustrating at times!

It sucks recently also because my boyfriend has had this awful cold and very bad cough which obviously means he is not in the mood for sex...although he doesn't mind a bj! lol

back in high school...my gf's parents left the house and spent some time in one of their other properties. omg...we tagged that WHOLE house over the course of that night and the next day. it was so friggin fun. seriously...we tagged the whole house...even ****ed in her parents bed! good times...

after that...i started spending the night there...her parents didn't mind at all. they LOVED me...

we snuck around before that night. i mean...we were sorta taken aback...the parents just giving us the house like that. so after that, one night she asked if it was alright if i spent the night there...and the parents are like sure! so that was that...
