Its all relative. Nazi holocaust sucks, if your jewish hahahaha. To me it was just population control. I could not care either way. I'm not a Nazi and I am not jews, I would be the guy who would just sit back and watch the bully beat the kid up, with some popcorn.
are you nuts? or do you think, it's cool to talk such nonsense?

You act as if it was planned that way.

America never just "decided" to help - we went into war because of what happened on December 7, 1941.

that's the most bloody ignorant thing i've read on this forum. what the nazi's did wasn't only a crime against jews, it was a crime against humanity.

i don't think you've been exposed to the holocaust.

You people are incompetent and I doubt any of you even understand what I said. You think what Germany did was wrong, exactly, "YOU" think, but just because "YOU" think doesnt make it so.

You are all ignorant and know nothing, its unfortune that you all think what you say is always right.

Yes, that reminds me of the quote "Those who dwell on the past are doomed to repeat it".

OV, i see your point. but does that argument excuse Nazi's for Genocide? I mean, if they 'believe they did nothing wrong', then on what grounds should they be punished?

Should they have even been punished? I mean, according to you the answer cannot be reached - because to them, the execution of 6 millions jews was right...

so where does one draw the line?

OV, you seem to disregard that fact that society is governed by rules. and it is up to citizens to uphold those 'rules', and behave accordingly...

....you disregard that fact of realizing this line DOES exist. and it is WRONG to cross it. it's how society has been shaped through thousands of years of history...

...your idea is dated. old fashioned. cultural relativism fails, because it becomes an excuse for crazy people to use...

If I did something drastic tommorow. I can blame it on Cultural Relativism. Or use Cultural Relativism as an excuse.

The execution of 6 million jews cannot be excused. You must be severly demented in the head, if you are to think that you can excuse this, based on Cultural Relativism.

Well, RSK, you requested a debate. Now you've got one. So.... debate. OV has made some very good points, as well as some DELIBERATELY inflammatory remarks. Question WHY they make you respond as you do...

PS To those who missed it.... Mish was being sarcastic. Of course, many countries contributed to the efforts in WWII-- to add to the list: There are over 800 Canadians buried in Belgium alone, for starters. And as for the battle at Dieppe... hellooo.... anyone??

indi, you are definately someone who thinks outside of the box...

    ...for this, thx for posting!

I respond to his posts, because I'm angered at his method of thinking and reasoning. The title of this thread includes the word, holistic, and OV is being very obtuse.

Who said anything about cultural relativism being an excuse? not me thats for sure. Cultural relativism just is, all other moral ethics are just opinions. Cultural relativism is the truth but I follow Utilitarian views. I prefer to spare pain and have a conscious mind feel no pain, I also acknowledge that this is "MY" way of morals and it doesn't have to be anyone elses.

Actually, RSK, I'm not sure OV IS being obtuse. I suspect, tho I could be wrong, that he understands better than you realize. While I don't personally subscribe to his argument style, I think I do understand it.

Perhaps you could explain a little better for us what you mean by "holistic perspective" regarding debates.... what might be required for such, and whether its even possible to achieve such.
