That's right. Here's how it ended;

I asked her to an upcoming dance, she said she doesn't want to. I then mentioned that it will be over if she refuses to go with me (by the way, her mom would most likely let us get back together if she would go to a dance with me)

She then says (i'm quoting this) "Why is it such a big deal? It's a stupid dance. And you'd go without me anyways, so what's the point? I'm going to bed now."

Ouch that really hurt my feelings. I would have liked to have said "Whatever, you stupid bitch. Wobble your ass into bed you self-centered idiot."

I reply to that (quoted) "I changed my mind. I don't want to go with you. Forget it. I don't want to be with you after what you just said to me." which after saying, I hung up.

She is obviously an idiot. I shouldn't have to explain to her for an hour, why I want to go to a dance with her, and tell her all the good things it will do. She should know all these things and be willing to "run through a mine field and jump barb-wired fences" (quoting ov) to go to a dance with me.

She was right, I am going to go whether she does or not. It's my last high school dance, I want the experience. I want to have fun and enjoy the rest of my senior year. So I am going to go with a girl that actually wants to go with me. There's plenty that do.

From my own experience most college girls tend to be more mature than ones in high school, but there are ones that have not matured or barely matured. Also another thing to add, have fun now that your single again.
