The overwhelming majority of scientists don't have any specialized knowledge of the earth sciences and get their information about GW from the newspapers like everyone else. If you'd watch the documentary, you'd see an interview with a scientist who worked on the periphery of the field who states that even HE got his news about GW that way and he didn't realize how wrong it was until he began to do actual research in the area.
If, like me, you don't feel like watching an hour long video you can read about it here.
My thoughts on the subject: were I a scientist my opinions and my findings would coincide with the interests of my benefactors. I don't know that I fully trust either side of this argument.
However, the fact that one of the scientists claims to have been duped makes me question the accuracy of the video.

Scientists present evidence and other scientists look at it and run their own experiments. No one has invalidated the science presented in the documentary, but the science presented in "An Inconvenient Truth" has been invalidated by further experiments.
The scientist who is objecting to being mislead wasn't quoted out of context -- he just objects to the authority of his name being ascribed to an anti-AGW movie. If he's strongly politically motivated then (as has been shown time and again) then he's quite willing to support an AGW-agenda even tho he doesn't think it's a fact.
Global Warming is real. End of discussion. There is no debating that and if you deny it and aren't taking measures to cure it then your actions are morally treasonable.
Walk outside and find a stick and drop the stick. That's called gravity and that is exactly how real global warming is.
People are bastard coated bastards with bastard filling
TDurden, no one is denying the earth is getting hotter. That much is obvious. So I'm not sure who you were addressing in your post. The main issue seems to be whether global warming is significantly caused by humans. There is no conclusive evidence that we are responsible.
By the way, comments like this don't exactly strengthen your position.

I don't see why I should have to do anything about it.
