    Implanon

I do not know if any one knows anything about it. I had mine put in October of 2007. I had one period right away then they stopped. And thats what my OBGYN told me should happen and its normal. Then this morning i woke up and did the normal pee thing and i am bleeding like dark red. And its not a lot like a period it is light and i have no cramps. I called to talk to my OBGYN but shes on baby delivery today. I do not know if i should just go to the hospital or just assume i am having a period.

I think it's just a period, but it's different because of the Implanon. Watch it closely- if you start bleeding a lot and get freaked out, then you should go to urgent care, but right now it doesn't sound too dire.

It's used for brith control instead of pills. It's supposed to be like pills minus major side effects associated with them.

its a birth control, that goes into your arm. It last for 3 years and it has the lowest failure rate. of 0.001% And its easier then the pill always there and it also has hormones i have can im allergic to oral birth control. So yeah it works better for me

    let's consult wikipedia:

    Side effects and risks

There are notable side effects caused by Implanon that occur in some women. Irregular periods, headaches, acne, weight gain and abdominal pain were among the most commonly reported side effects in clinical trials. Eleven percent of women had Implanon removed because of irregular menstrual bleeding, which can include excessive menstrual bleeding. Some women may have no menstrual period at all while using Implanon.
hm, seems like weird irregular bleeding is common with Implanon.. though, i've read that it often goes away after a few weeks. I'm sure it wouldn't be a bad idea to check with your obgyn, rather than my internet hearsay

I used to have Norplant (same basic thing as Implanon) and I had it taken out because it didn't like the side effects, the worst of which was the extremely irregular menstruation. It was so... unnatural.

I wanted to get implants, actually. I asked a doctor about it, and-- I should add to the story, the government pays for all my medical expenses-- he said that it'd be €100 to get it, and one should consider the cost on the taxpayer.
.. At the time I didn't think to mention that three years of the pill would surely cost more.

but I got on the pill it worked out okay. As an added bonus, I haven't had a period since I went off it 5 months ago.. Isn't an IUD also an option for those who can't take hormones?

I don't know about Europe, but here, they hesitate to give an IUD to someone who hasn't had a full-term pregnancy. Not sure why.

well thats one thing is that my insurance does not want to pay for it so im actually battling with them and no they will not give you a IUD if you have not had a baby. I also have PCOS (poloy cystic ovary syndrome) So i have to take some kind of birth control to control that. And its not bothering me that much the bleeding stopped today so if i only have that happen once or twice a year i will take it. Better then being in the hospital with a allergic reaction to an oral.

Sounds like a possible period. Why dont you talk to the nurse at the office? You dont necessarily have to speak to your OBGYN, the nurse can give you something to at least put your mind at rest.

Ive heard horror stories with those implants. Ive been on Deprovera for 10 plus years. I LOVE IT! I NEVER have PMS or period symptoms of anything. No periods and thats the numerol uno reason why I chose it. I love not having to deal with monthly tampons, gawd eww.

The only problem Ive dealt with Depo is the bone loss, its possibly contributed to my back problems(bone loss and disk problems) Depo eats your bone so they say and all I have to do is take a bone supplement. Ive had to have 2 bone density tests in the last 2 years, and so far so good. Although my first test showed the first signs of osteo, I was able to continue to do Depo. I wont change it, it works for me!
everything happens for a reason...beginning to wonder why.

the IUD-only-after-you've-had-a-baby thing is dumb. It was initially the case, yes. and there was some big scare with a company that made the IUD's. But today, ah IUD should be an option for those who haven't been pregnant. The only con is that in those cases, it doesn't protect quite as well, but it is still damn good.
