Unfortunately, the 11 paintings that I've done this semester have been entered into an exhibition, and therefore I do not have them at hand. I have a watercolor somewhere around here from last semester, I'll look for it later. I am currently working on two self portraits at the moment, acrylic paint. I will post those when they are finished, if you would like to see them.

If you want to be an artist, you got to have more ambition than just do stuff that is commissioned from school. I still want to see those paintings, and where is your website?

Why do you assume such things? I do have more ambition, but I prefer not to lug my paintings from home to the university, so pardon me. Also, being a full-time student in America does not allow for free time; I just barely get 5 hours of sleep during the week. I've done sketches, and I have ideas for paintings for over the summer, but not enough time to compose a painting. *shrug*

How often do you paint, boobaa? I know you study Fine Art.

How come you don't do art? You have such a wild imagination, I would only expect to see some of your ideas put to canvas.

Self Portrait #1 is nearly ready to be painted. It is f*cking crazy, too. I really hope it turns out good. Having second thoughts on acrylic on illustration board. #2 I have not even sketched out yet. Due Monday, I'll probably have them posted by then.

Different media LW. I write and play music. I also invent things in my spare time.

Here they are, thus far. Acrylic on illustration board, approximately 5.5 hours each, kind of with reference, mostly without. Compare to the other students in the class, this is A- work. I am not entirely satisfied with it, it is definitely not my best work, and I would certainly like to build off of them. Constructive Criticism, please.

Happy to be finished with them. I haven't gotten any sleep this weekend because of them. If only I had more time to work on them. Well, I guess I still do, but that is how they are going to look for class, today.

These will only be up today.

Thanks. No, I don't really have anything abstract... I do not like abstract expressionism. I like expressionism and impressionism, and I like to use them, in order to create a twist with surrealism, but I never just slap paint on a canvas. I find it nonobjective. But if you do like that stuff, check out Helen Frankenthaler. I do like some of the colors she uses, although I am particularly disappointed with the lack of subjects.

I do have some works which are not human, though. Those are mostly sketches of landscapes and imaginary things. I like to illustrate my writings. This summer I would like to take those sketches a step further and produce them in color.

Also, I am doing a few thumbnail sketches and designs for paintings that will include media such as photography, calligraphy, painting, and what not. The series will be about German shifting to English, through a series of shifts and consonants, conjugations. I will also incorporate some of my ideas from my German writings. Some interesting ideas that one might call 'bilingual expressionism'

That sounds neat. I've seen some interesting art around here that makes use of kanji characters. Almost like shoji scrollwork in a painting format. Some of the calligraphy is quite beautiful (and an art in itself, of course).

Calligraphy is greatly underrated today. I wished everybody was more aesthetic. Throw away the Bic pens, and use an ink well with a nibbed pen, instead.

In the bilingual pieces I would like to do, I plan to use a variety of German scripts: Sütterlin, Kurrentschrift, Fraktur, and so forth.

Sketching is good. I must say that my sketching habits are gotten a bit down, but sketching is the key. Just sketch whenever you can, every free second is an opportunity.

As you can see, right now I am lurking in forums instead of painting. But Last month I painted almost every day, now I just take some time off and try to focus on school stuff. Gah, I too have so many ideas and commissions, promises for friends that I have to achieve. I remember not sleeping almost at all when I had my exams and I painted at night, lol. Painting is kind of relaxing when you have stuff in your head for example.

And yes, calligraphy is a lost art. Even todays typography is suffering from it. Only left masters of it are the Arabians (who have always been the leaders of typography, btw, whole latin style is derived from them) who still do most of the stuff by hand. I had calligraphy at previous school, but unfortunately I never got good enough in it... Maybe I should give another try.

Have you done any pixelations recently? I haven't been to the forums in a long time, but I'd like to pixelate some ideas, using the things I've learned this year on color.

I gotta admit, painting is something new to me. I have been using monochromatic media my entire life (drawing, ink, calligraphy, etc.) and I have only just jumped into color and painting. I really like paint, but it's such an expensive medium. I have thought about studying printmaking, but I think painting would be better.

What kind of paint do you use? And what do you paint on?
