Have you heard of Douglas Preston, author?

My hubby and I are flying to Maine on Thurs to spend a day with him! i am so EXCITED!! He's a New Yorks Times Best Seller Author in the Mystery genre. I have been reading his latest book, "Monster of Florence" true story and scary. My favorite author, Thomas Harris based Hannibel on him.

I've been so busy with work and remodeling I just haven't had time to get in here and post. But I wanted to share this moment because it's so huge for us. We're staying at one of the oldest historic buildings, a bed and breakfast some nights. Funny thing, I don't like lobster! HA

Gosh he has so many! He also co-writes with Lincoln Child. I'm sure you heard of "Relic"? Awesome. The latest one, Douglas actually is thrown out of ITALY! He was almost arrested over there. Lets, see, Ice Limit is another one. Brimstone. I recommend anything he writes alone, or co-authors with Lincoln Child. If you like mystery thrillers.

I'm going to pack this morning and finish bedroom 2 in the remodeling efforts. I hope to get pictures up there so I can post them.

Yep I heard of Preston, squirrley. That sounds very exciting, enjoy. I love mystery thrillers...it's my favorite to read. I read Relic over a decade ago. I loved it! I remember I would ask friends have they read the book and everyone would say no. Oh, I need to find out if my mother still have it so that I can read it again.

We're so bummed. We got up at 4 am and received a message our flight was cancelled due to the weather up there. URGH! They rebooked us tomorrow but we were suppose to do the day tomorrow with Doug. Now we're rescheduling the trip and taking off for a few days anyway seeing that its our 2 year Wedding Anniversary today. Probably Disney and Sea World then to Tampa. We'll make the most of the weekend!

I haven't seen the movie. Was it made before or after the book?

The movie, imo, was not so wonderful...even though it did have Things With Teeth That Eat People (big plus for me)...but yeah, everyone knows it's rare that a movie does a book justice.

I fell in love with Isaac Asimov's universe prior to college, and he was about the only person other than Theodore Roosevelt or William Sherman that I've ever wanted to meet. I was actually very saddened to hear about his death.

Indi-Relic is awesome, did you see the movie?

Nope. Sadly, I live in a cave as far as popular movies & television goes. The last film & book series I attempted was that 'Da Vinci Code'. I read the book (awful) and saw the movie (likewise) and decided that kind of genre just doesn't do it for me. Of course, the fact that the premise was about this secret society of generational scientists didn't help. I'm a pretty picky reader, tho.

But I will get Relic as its a genre I don't typically read, so could be fun. If the book is good, then mbe I'll see the movie. Usually tho, the books are better for these types of stories, I think?

Think about it, if he wouldn't have happened and killed and eaten all those kids, you wouldn't be having fun right now.
