Can you explain this guys? please?

My boyfriend almost broke up with me becasue he says "I'm not good enough for you" or "It's for the better" or "You'll thank me in the future" even though he said its killing him. Can someone who thinks this too tell me why you guys think this? and is there anyway to reassure them to make them not think this? because it hurts so much when he says it, even if he doesnt follow through and doesnt break up with me...

Because you know that the relationship is not going to work out or is currently destructive in some way. That you're wasting each other's time and preventing one another from finding more suitable partners. That although painful, it would be mutually beneficial to break up now so you both can move on with your lives.

Whether or not he's correct depends on his reasoning I suppose. For example he might think the two of you are funamentally incompatible. Or there might be external factors like distance, or family disapproval?

And yes I have broken up with girls for similar reasons in the past.
Is it burnin'? Well, f-ck, now you're learnin'.

By the way, I had something similar happen to me many moons ago.

Chicky didn't have much of an education, was working as a waitress (with not much propsects for better jobs).

I was wrapping up my business degree.

Painful has hell, but she was *most likely* right. And I cried a lot over that one. I was so deeply into her. Amazing thing was we worked together and feelings didn't develop until maybe 6 or 8 months in, but they became extraordinarily intense.

Just leave him. Don't talk to him again and find somebody new. If he has thought about breaking up with you and has a lame reason like that, he isn't happy with the relationship and there is nothing you can do.

I agree, if he's not invested in the realtionship then it'll be hard for it to be a worth while one. I think it's better to move on rather than try to stuggle with a so-so relationship... its never safe to settle!
