DM decided to rain on my happy parade in my Philly thread by trying to claim that Philadelphia is not considered the North. More than once actually in an obvious attempt to hijack my thread with his prodding words.
So after I deleted his posts and my responses to them I decided I'd leave it up to you all to decide if one could refer to Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania as the "North". I want no mention of this argument to touch upon my Philadelphia thread again. Yes, or else.
I feel as though Philadelphia and it's surrounding regions have developed enough of a reputation throughout history to warrant their referral as being part of the "North". And those being from those areas as "yankees".
From a southerner's point of view, Philly would count as the North.
Philadelphia was part of the Union North during the American Civil War.
Any person I've ever come across has always understood I was from the North when I mentioned I was from Philly, even as far as saying "Oh you're from up North." Not "Oh you're from the East." Or "Northeast." Or "East Coast." Hell even East Coast has been use reference to my state despite the fact it's landlocked by New Jersey.
DM never tried to explain what defined a Northern state if he even had one at all at the time of his statements. If he would like to put in his logic, by all means, he may do it here, but once again, not in my vacation thread.
