The US had everything. Even when the US and USSR were neck and neck until around 1990, people here had a standard of living around 1,000 times higher than in the USSR
We still are the only country of this level of international influence to have such a high standard of living
The US has influence everywhere and admittedly is the most powerful country in the world. when you say high standard of living- that might be true, do you have a higher standard of living compared to Europe? if so technically what does standard of living mean..or does it matter? how high would you think the quality of life is compared to Europe for instance?

USA is just sucking on those who are a few steps back, developing countries. Oil, sweatshops, etc. You make me sick.
Don't expect anything.

Are you kidding, the middle eastern countries with oil are getting fat with our cash. It's going to be great when they run out of oil and we are energy independent
That depends by what measure. For a rich to middle class person US was much better than USSR becaue they had a lot more investment opportunities and could afford a lot more. For poor to lower middle class person though USSR had free education (a very advanced education), free healthcare, a very good maternity leave and other types of leave, free vacations paid for by work and very good pensions. If you had to compare a poor US person and a poor person from USSR I would go for USSR having a better standard of living for these people.

Well then you're living in a fantasy world if you think our poor and their poor can compare. Their healthcare SUCKED, at least according to my uncle (a surgeon) who went to Moscow in the 90s to help them upgrade. No comparison at ALL can be made. Education is likewise free in the US up until grade 12, and getting a free education at college level wasn't hard if you went to a state school. Our poor and their poor doesn't equate at all. Describing a person in the US as poor wouldn't be the same adjective used to describe the person of same living arrangements in USSR. People had to wait in line for 12 hours for a stick of butter
What if all this shit was a spoof, lol
The US has some of the best health care in the world!
I wouldn't really know though...
Maybe for high end stuff there were shortages, but for most low to medium health problems there were free health clinics near by that fixed most problems in that category.
In USSR there were free schools, free colledges and free universities. Some of the places were quite competative so you needed good grades to get in ofcourse.
You must be thinking about 1991 and onwards the time of inflation, that was when USSR collapsed and didn't exist anymore. Yeh there were food shortages and huge lines back then. But 70s to mid 80s shops were full and there were little shortages that I know of. Most people I know from that time lived quite comfortably.
All in all, if you were poor to low middle class and didn't want to get any higher USSR looked after your needs quite well.

You can conquer racism in the view of the Public, but you shall never conquer racism in the individual soul.
